when i try to RESUME, (on the menu screen) it asked me to insert disc 1 and then proceeded to load a save from very early on in the game. after dying, i tried to resume(continue) and it restarted the whole mission. it is very frustrating because after restarting the mission, it AUTOSAVES over my current play, forcing me to do it all over again. am i the only one experienceing this issue???

It shouldn't be over writing a manual saved game. I know sometimes there are two autosaves in the load game menu before the manual save I made which is definately a glitch so make sure you are actually trying to load the manual save game and not the autosave.
