Dog makes a good addition to the party, but doesn't provide the interactions that a humanoid henchman can. Still you don't want to cut him out so he should be your pet. I named him Jiggles by the way.

Yeah I agree.. Dog should be an exception "5th" companion.

I agree.. I dont use him since I like the character interactions but would like to see him as a 5th companion.

Yeah, he should be a "free" character. Yes, he's uber in a fight, just like in Fallout and Arcanum... but his lack of interaction should give him a bonus slot to take along with any party.

Would make him just like Dogmeat.

He is lacking in conversations, I agree, but I've had a few interactions with him.
I think I was in Denerim and he ran off and brought a kid back with him. I had to convince him that we can't "keep him". And he interacts with party members occasionally. I wish there were more interactions, but he is a kick ass tank IMO.

I have to agree that dog should be an additional "5th" character not a party member. I keep reading all this interesting things that it can find and do, but I have a solid party going where I just don't have space for him
Alisteir - romance, Wynne- Healer, Female rogue-lockpick. No room for poor puppy

:| The dog does so much that he qualifies for a freaking companion. The damn thing is so useful that it would be rather unbalanced to throw him in for free.

He's too good to be a simple pet, more interaction would have been nice but tbh he's just as useful as any other party member.
I usually swap my party around every once in a while for variety anyway.

Hm, he marks certain things so you get a bonus in areas.
He finds gifts that no others can find ...
I like Dog!
