Singularity - Varen and mech dogs.

Why can I hold the toughest charging Krogan in place but not his pet Varen which is half the size?
Why can I hold a LOKI mech but not his little mechanical dog?
How does this even make sense in the Mass effect universe? I understand why a Geth Prime or a Heavy mech would have the strength to plow through the field but varen and mech dogs? Was this a programming oversite I wonder? With all the limited biotics on the harder difficulties it just seems like an extra insult that one of the few usable biotics on Insanity is restricted in a way that doesn't even make sense within the gameplay.

Varren and Dog Mechs are also resistant to Drone Taunt as well. They keeping moving towards you but will keep facing the Drone.
Its a bit weird.

Remember that enemies with defenses can kind of move around in singularity every other second so sometimes I think Varren/FENRIS Mechs are fast enough to escape it. However it does seem like they're actually immuned like some of the boss enemies.
I'm pretty sure they're totally immune.
It just doesn't make sense to me that while I can hold a charging krogan in a biotic field I can be bitten to death by a wild animal that is immune, or a robot dog.

I agree. Realistically they shouldn't be immuned because there's nothing really special about them. My best guess is that the Devs wanted a normal enemy that can bypass any CC to give players something to worry about and react to first.

Is it also possible that you're 'missing' them? I.e. have you tried using the Singularity as a trap by placing it in front of where the dogs are charging instead of aiming at the dogs? It's possible that without Wide Singularity, the dogs are charging past the impact point before they get caught in the effect.

Are you playing on Insanity? You need to make sure to burn through their armor first, or most biotics won't affect them. It's been a while since I played my Adept, but I don't recall any problems with singularity and dog-type enemies. I know for certain that pull works fine on Varren, since I had Jacob use it a few times on Grunt's loyalty mission.

Not the point of the post. Singularity affects armored/shielded enemies before their defenses are stripped. It holds them in place by locking them into a loop of stunned animations for a few seconds. Obviously invaluable in Insanity.
However, it does not work on Varren. Stupid. It makes Grunt's loyalty mission a pain as well.

It's totally stupid. It's just lazy difficulty scaling - pasting armor onto an animal's health bar and endowing it with an immunity that doesn't even make sense in the game's universe.
