Amazing how when Bioware finally create a game that is supposed to be "about the squadmates", they fumble and manage to make them the most lacklustre Ive ever seen.

Lets take a look...
Tali - great character, nice dialogues in both games and a very good squadmate.
Wrex - I think I moved on, even though I liked him.
Ashley/Kaiden - Kaiden is dead in both my male paragon and female renegade saves and I also moved on concerning Ash.
Garrus - He got great moments, but I was disappointed in ME2 about conversations... he didnt have a lot to say to me on the Normandy. But I would like to keep him on my crew anyway.
Liara - would love to have her back. Was a great character in ME1
Mordin - Awesome! He has to be there!!
Legion - Wont say no to him, and he was pretty useful as well... but I could go without him.
Miranda - I actually liked her a lot. Once you got to know her she turned out to be not as icy and hollow as you might have thought when you first met her. And she was a great squadmate, too.
jacob - hm a nice and likeably dude... but I could live without him.
jack - very interesting twisted character. Would like to see how she turns out.
zaeed - I liked that guy, lot of storys and usefull squadmade. Keeper.
Grunt - same as Zaeed and Worfs Voice!
Thane - He was interesting and had a complex background. I liked him, but I think his story has been told so Id rather go without him.
Samara/Morinth - Samara I could get on without... havent gotten Morinth yet though.

Original crew of course. Better written, had more impact on the plot, and have been here since the beginning. ME2 crew felt like warm bodies to throw at a sucide mission.

Original crew was better written? not sure if I can agree with that, I really felt attached to that new crew..
Like the conversations I had with Mordin on how he was part of the modified genephage, to Thane's wicked memory and philospical discussions, to the idea of what being a Justicar is all about with Samura (Mornith, not as cool, as I picked her for my renegade shepard in my 2nd game), to Jack's f'd up life. I can really go on and on about the character depths of the second one.
My main concern however, is they spent all this time building this new crew, and getting their back story filled in, that if they don't use em for the 3rd one (I also don't mean cameo roles like they way they did the old crew), it really would make the majority of ME 2's side mission plot (which I really enjoyed) pointless.
Grunt - same as Zaeed and Worfs Voice!
Michael Dorn actually played the bad guy on that Krogan planet that you kill at the end in Grunt's mission, I don't think he voiced Grunt.

I thought ME2's dialogue was better written, and had more depth by far. Also, I don't think anyone can question that the squad-specific missions in ME1 were even 1/3 as interesting as the squad-specific missions in ME2.
All of that being said though, I guess it all comes down to opinion. I am not a Tali fan really, but I do like Garrus. With that being said, even if they were solely on the Old Crew side, I would STILL take the new crew. In a perfect world I would like to see a ME3 crew consist of:
- Liara
- Wrex
- Miranda
- Jacob
- Thane
- Mordin
- Legion
- Garrus
Plus about 4 new characters to keep it interesting. Then again, BioWare probably isn't going to release a Mass Effect 3 : JLocke37 Edition.

Mordin is obviously a keeper as he was the most entertaining of all the characters ME1 and ME2.

Me1 dialogs were so shallow...
Tali's was extremely limited.
Wrex's was interesting but short.
Garrus was short and constantly talked about the same thing.
Liara is bland and mainly talks about the Asari and not herself aside from things you already knew.
Ashley...well I just didn't like her character
Kaiden was extremely bland.
The dialogs in ME2 are much longer, and much more indepth. Excluding Zaeed cause he is DLC.
I could get through all of Wrex's, Tali's, and Garrus's dialogs in 4 chats.
I could get through all of Ashley's, Kaiden's, and Liara's dialogs in about 5-6 chats (I forget)

That sounds good to me, except I'd switch out Liara for Tali. Not that I'm a Talimancer or anything, I just like her more than Liara.JLocke37 wrote...

This!
For everyone who moaned about the ME characters having issues and being "whiney" it amazes me they can even tolerate the ME2 squad.

Aside from that, I'm not too attached to any one character more than another. They've all got strengths and weaknesses.

Tali - Hopefully, but unlikely. She says she is considered for Admiralty and since the one Admiral hints on the stance of the new Admiral will decide wheter they go to war or not.. and you can make Tali come to an understanding with Legion.. i don't see her as Squadmate for ME3. Despite me hopeing she will be.. and to continue my LI with her.
Wrex - Is busy with uniting the Krogan. I wish i could help him more, but i saved the Genophage cure on my ship, maybe it will come in handy.
Ashley/Kaiden - I only want Ash back if i can talk her out of her racisem. Kaiden? Keep him. He is a nice buddy but something irks me about his looks. The true reason why i don't see Kaiden returning is: well he was Lt. before Saren and he had gotten promoted already before horizon, propably putting him on equal terms as Shepard by the time of ME3. I expect him to have his own commando. So i can only see him as coworking, not as crewmember, maybe a XO on some big battleship of the Alliance you can talk into helping you.
Garrus - I will deeply disappointed if i don't get Garrus to watch my Back in ME3.
Liara - I want her on my ship, like Chakwas, but not as Squadmate. I think with her new role as Informationbroker she would be great as Councelor.
And the new crew... well.. lets see.
Mordin - He definately has to come along. He doesn't have any assignment and his expertise is still required. I don't think he will turn his back on the mission to stop the reapers.
Legion - I don't see him returning to the Geth, i rather see him as conduit to interface with Shepard to fight the common foe. (In Case Shepard dies in ME3, which i consider very likely - i would want to see him take off with the Corpse)
Miranda - As much as i want to say: I don't want her on my ship. Afer you blow up the base she goes turncoat on Cerberus. If you don't destroy the base, your basically still working for TiM. Don't see her leaving at all.
Jacob - I don't think he should stay if you turn over the base to TiM. Otherwise.. yep.. no reason for him to leave.
Jack - If Pragon, i think she stays with you. I am not so sure about the Renegade, but as Paragon you basically given her a save harbor to remain.
Zaeed - he did his contracted job and good riddiance to him. That bastard gets removed from my ship the at the first stop. If it has to be with an armed escort. I don't want to work with him. He isn't dependable and he was willing to let people burn alive to get one man. Thats no behavior i would tollerate on my ship. I am also just having a single save (the all Renegade one - the one on which i am human supermancist) in which i have followed through with his "we have to persue him"... and let the slaves burn to death. It really pained me to hear those miserable screams. I would be willing to help him take down vito, but i don't wannt Zaeed on my ship. Period.
Grunt - Sure.. your his Battlemaster. Of course he tags along.
Thane - Will most likely be dead by the time ME3 takes place. I won't shed a tear there.
Samara - The mission is not over, her oath not fullfilled. You have taken out the Collectors and are now going up against their bosses. Her codex ties her to your cause. And if i might add... she is like Garrus to me.. a person i know i can depend on.
Morinth - She has no reason to stay with you. She fullfilled her promise and the bargain to kill her mother ends with the success of the Suicide mission. Unless she becomes Liara 2, hitting on your and trying to get in your pants every possibilty, there is no reason for her to remain. Especially since she got to feed.

I’m reading a lot of New Crew if it has both Tali and Garrus on it. Well Tali and Garrus are Old Crew so if you want them on your team man up and pick the Old Crew. My Choice is the Old Crew, I don’t like the New Crew much, the only ones that I really enjoy are Jacob and Zaeed.
What's this 'man up' nonsense? Tali and Garrus manned up by joining me on the New Crew. I have no use for the ones who didn't.
Also, I prefer Tali and Garrus as presented in ME2 over ME1. That's why you can't just decide they only count as 'old crew.' Because they don't. By that logic, Shepard would only be in the Old crew.

All I'm saying is it's a little unfair that the "New" Crew gets Tali and Garrus also, there are six members in the first game, eleven characters in the second game. So if you can have these two characters on either team, they cancel each other out, then it's a matter of if you want Wrex, Kaidan, Ashley, and Liara, or if you want Grunt, Thane, Legion, Jacob, ect. That seems a little unfair to me, so I vote that Tali and Garrus count as offical members of the Old Crew so the numbers are more fair, plus they were on the Old Crew first.

You must be joking. You don't even need four chats to romance Miranda or Tali in ME2. Jacob has almost zero to say and Grunt is very uninteresting. Jack nearly refuses to say anything to you and certainly has less than five dialogs. Samara is slighly interesting, although much of the discussion aboard is strictly about being a justicar. The only worthwhile character of any depth is Mordin.
The only way ME2 dialog is deeper is if you include dialog during loyalty missions, which, in ME2, takes the place of all the other missions in ME1.

All the others will be introduced according to their fan popularity as any of them can easily be written out or in as the case may be. Remember, if any significant time passes between ME2 and ME3, excuses will be plentiful as to why ME2 crew left (Assuming yours lived).
