Sorry, but the interaction between Tali, Garrus, and Shepard didn't seem like "pawns" to me.

I won't speak for the rest of the ME2 crew, because I don't care one way or the other.
Although perhaps that statement is evidence of the so-called "lackluster" ME2 characters.

Nor do I care one way or the other about Liara or Ashley/Kaidan.

This is not to say any of them are particularly bad characters. I just didn't get attached to them.

I thought the dialogue and interactions were far more polished in ME2.

In spite of this, the only two characters that I really felt were "at my side" rather than "at my command" were Tali and, to a lesser extent. Garrus. Beyond them, I had more attachment to the various npc's in the game than squadmembers.

Ashley's backstory pretty much centered around who her daddy was and what he did.

Liara was the typical "who's my daddy?"

Though Kaidan was fairly clean of daddy issues.

There was much more diversity among the new crew personalities. I would choose the new crew.

I would have allowed Tali and Garrus to go both ways, I think you just insured all the Tali and Garrus fans to pick the old ME Crew just for their characters.......which is fine Thane made the ME2 crew look that much cooler to me. In short they were in ME2 and should count as part of the ME2 crew as well, IMO but it is your thread. My answer is still the ME2 crew even without them.

Wrex had Daddy issues. His tried to kill him.

Garrus had daddy issues too. His father didn't approve of him wanting to be a spectre.

Tali's daddy issue was relatively minor in ME1. He was 'aloof' following her mother's death. We learn in ME2 its what made him more focused on trying to reclaim the homeworld so he could build Tali a House.

So really only Kaidan seemed to be free of parental issues. But he made up for it at Brain Camp.

Possibly, since Id love to play this "perfect" ME2 a few folks rave about.

My copy of ME2 had some massive flaws and a hugely disappointing plot by comparison to ME1.

Still, I had been thinking of replaying ME1 soon. Im already sick of ME2, and DLC seems to be taking its sweet time, since crappy bonus gear does nothing for me.

I'm not trying to start anything, but being someone who enjoys ME2 and has completed more than one playthrough I have to ask: Why are you here?  If you loved ME1, there is ME1 forums.  I've been reading through here and it isn't like you are providing constructive criticism of the game, it's just "ME1 is greater than ME2....end of point, press repeat".  Like I said, not trying to start anything, just curious why you are posting on these forums....

The new crew would be perfect if Wrex were in it.

As long as I can get to pick Wrex, Tali and maybe Legion and Mordin, I'd be happy. :D

(tho' I'd still want to trade in one of 'em for either Adm. Xen or Kal'Reegar. Aeryn Sun and Animal Mother FTW! )

I am actually providing constructive criticism, you just dont like it. No offence, but tough. Im just not going about it in a perfectly happy and complimentary manner since I just paid £50 for a game, it has many aspects that disappoint me, and Im not pleased about it. Plus Id like these things to change come ME3.

DLC taking its sweet time? The game has only been out 2 weeks in the UK (which am guessing you are from seeing as you mentioned £s).

Constructive criticism would require manners and actual constructive comments, something which you have just admitted you are lacking. All you have done lately is make snide comments every chance you can get and that isn't going to help the devs deliver what you think they should and it certainly isn't constructive.

Might want to look the word up before you start banding it about with such blatant disregard.

Actually Ash's was her grandfather.

I never got the whole who's my daddy vibe from Liara, more of the my mom just died, even if she was crazy she was still my mom.

Except that the ME crew seemed to be able to handle their issues unlike the entire crew of ME2.

I found the new crew to be better fleshed out overall, mainly because of the loyalty missions which give you insights into the characters that you never got in ME1.

Yes, and we are trying to constructively disagree, apart from a few bad jokes on my part.

On release DLC ring a bell? Yes, thats right, we had Zaeed (who has a monumental amount of haters) and Normandy Crash site.... Meh?

Oh and Im well aware of the definition of constructive, unlike you clearly. My abrasive comments perfectly voice my discontent, and offer something the devs might consider changing come ME3: hence constructive. Sorry, but your constant snide and arrogant posts are going to have to be worked on if youre going to have an impact on me.

Constructive doesnt equal excessive politeness or kowtowing, particularly when something has been paid for out of our own pockets.

Apply something to your sore ass, and accept the discontent this game has rightfully garnered.

Definitely new crew. However, I would switch out Miranda for Liara.

If we could have done that in ME2, I would have a total of zero complaints about the game.
