Allow me to say that I love this game- on casual, normal, and veteran.  Absolutely love it.  But then, I tried Hardcore difficulty to the Recruit Tali mission.  Some of you may know why I did this.  Anyway, it was then that I realized what some on this board have been saying for weeks now.  This game has real issues when you play on the harder difficulties.  Here are some that I noticed.

1.  My companion AI was basically nonexistant.  It's like BioWare decided that in order to make the game harder, you have to kill basically everyone by your damn self.  There where times when I would position my companions and they wouldn't take a single shot.  Not one.  Then, when there where too many Geth and I had to worry about myself, these idiots got themselves massacred by either not taking cover, using their powers at inopportune times, or not using their powers at all.

2.  Certain enemies have far too much ammo / armor / shields, and you do far too little damage with the measley gun you have.  I counted a period of 10 straight seconds of cover fire from certain enemies (way too much), allowing their minions to walk right up into my damn face (again, no help from my companions.)  You, on the other hand, are given a window of about 4 seconds (way too short), maybe, to take down shields, armor, and then health, with some gimpy Mass Effect 2 "they're not really bullets" type guns.

Edit:  I have upgraded just about every gun as far as I can by this time as well.  This is my second playthrough.  The guns just seem too weak on Hardcore.

3.  Far too many enemies with far too much ammo.  I can't pop out of cover and take out one Geth because I'm either getting flanked by another squad, or shot by a mini-boss.  That's not difficult, that's old-school, Nintendo game-style, Contra cheap.

4.  Is it me, or does Shepard seem to exit cover a lot?  This one may possibly be more of a user error (meaning that I'm perhaps holding, or pressing the wrong buttons at the wrong time.)

Anyway, that's it for my rant.  Besides these things, it's still one of the best games I've ever played.
