I want some DLC where we go party on the Citadel!
I want to get loud and spill drinks!
I was a little disappointed with the Jacob character because:
1. He didn't really bring much to the table as a squad member...yet another biotic...I did like his barrier ability but for Shepard not him.
2. It was hinted that he didn't know who he was and could be bound for greatness and so forth, but it never really went anywhere which was sort of disappointing. Perhaps this gets explored more if you romance him?

Sometimes I think Jacob might have been better received by the fans if Mass Effect: Galaxy had been a full-fledged action game released on PC and Xbox. Maybe make it a first-person shooter but with no control over Jacob's dialogue (so you only control him during the actual action scenes). I've never played Galaxy myself (no iPhone), but from what Jacob said about what happened (he and Miranda stopping the batarians from releasing a plague on the Citadel), the plot could have made for an excellent ten-hour FPS that could have introduced players to the post-ME1 world.

Jacob gets hated on an awful lot and he was one of my favorite characters throughout. Garrus seemed... more distant, than ME1. I thought Jacob was a legit guy, and I appreciated his honesty right off the bat. I like that he doesn't care for Cerberus, and he was the first character Shep could really trust at all.
I don't see why not having deep emotional issues or psychological scars make him any less interesting, I liked that he had his s*** in order and his head on straight.
Jacob is my boy, enough said
I like Jacob once you do his mission, which is my fave one, and he loosens up a bit. Early on he comes across as ''**** this ****, I quit'' about everything from the Alliance to Miranda. Even when you ask him about being a Corsair he's like, ''I quit. Too much red tape.'' That does get a bit old after a bit. I think the writers could've given him some good stories about being a Corsair or the time he and Miranda saved the Citadel from a Batarian biological attack.
After his quest and the collector ship he came across as a very down to earth laid back kind of guy. I enjoyed the BS talks with him. I just wish they'd given him more background story about his past.
On the plus side he never whines about his father,, even after finding out the truth. In fact he doesn't whine nearly as much as the others.
Overall, I've come to like him.

If Garrus hadn't been onboard, Jacob would have been my BMF, with Tali being my BFF.

I think that is the point, he has hated everyone he has worked for... the only organization giving him the leeway he craves he finds ethically revolting... I feel like that's what I liked about him cause you know after talking to him (especially if youre paragon) that he'll love working with you and you can tell he's loyal, despite all his grievances he never stabs anyone in the back.

Is it bad that on one of my "fun" playthroughs I made him not loyal and a fireteam lead so I could kill him off?
In the real world? No. In the world of Mass Effect? Is intentionally killing a team member bad? Hmmm, let's go with yes...
aaaaaaaand Jacob is awesome (well argued I know)

Since I'm a guy and I don't roll femsheps then that never posed a problem for me. I understand some female players having issues, but it kills me when a guys rolls a femshep and then complains about a male romance option. The guy has his own game, ME Galaxy, that was originally titled "Jacob's Story" where he saves the freakin' Citadel.....by himself. Yet he constantly gets dissed.
Hell....Urz has a bigger fan following.

No one dislikes Jacob, he just isn't anyone's favorite because he doesn't stand out. He's too agreeable, too nice, which in turn makes him boring. He's there. He never has anything interesting to add, he just says **** and you go, "OK, I can agree with that." There is no personality to hate. In fact, the only thing I dislike about Jacob are the absence of hips, which makes his upper body look freakishly huge. Jacob is the Kaiden/Carth of ME2 without the annoying or whiny backstory.
THIS IS WHY I LIKE HIM... I mean if I was Shep is traight forward honest attitude would put me at ease, especially when the only other initial squaddy, Miranda, wanted a chip in my brain - Jacob is upfront with his problem with Cerberus but they give him whatever he needs to achieve his goals, something the alliance wouldn't do - so I feel Shep and Jacob can have an instant connection, having a fundamental problem with an organization that you can't seem to do without
