Bummer that Jacob can't get more love.

I liked him, but Jacob's lack of very useful powers is the true problem I think, especially on Insanity. He's sort of a Vanguard but he doesn't have Charge obviously, and the NPCs just do terribly with the shotgun was my impression. He should at the very least have an assault rifle instead of the pistol really, being a CAREER SOLDIER and all.

i really want ME 3 to start with shepard and jacob getting areested for being drunk and disorderly on the citadel after "getting loud" and "spilling some drinks". Probably not going to happen though.

Heh, heh.  That would be cool as hell.  Too bad we won't see that happen.  Bump for the Jacob!

Jacob is awesome and those who say he is weak aren't using him properly. Incinerate + shotty decimates armour and pull is perfect for taking enemies out of the fight with 1 power. Barrier makes Jacob a formidable tank.

QFT. I've been saying Jake is one of the stronger  team members for a while now.  You only need one point in incendiary ammo to panic organics. Save the other points for his other skills. Max out Pull field, Ceberus Veteran (health bonus), and Heavy Barrier and Jake is as tough as they come. The assault rifle isn't needed. Heavy pistol is more than good enough. It does more damage in one shot than an assault rifle does with many shots. The eviscerator shot gun is awesome at mid range with incendiary ammo.

Jacob was an awesome person in general, just that his character needed to be improved on/fleshed out. If he gets into ME3, I hope that happens. And all squadmate shotgun problems are solved with the Eviscerator.

Jacob's just as fleshed out as most of the other team members. I don't see how Thane, Miranda, or Samarra have any more depth. Most of the squad mates don't have much history behind them that effect the main plot significantly. Thane is an assassin, has a son who's estranged and he's dying. No big depth there.

Jacob is the only character that i use with any other person in my group he fits perfectly.He has both attack and defense.

Once I reached a definitive end to his romance dialogue, which made me want to puke, I loved Jacob. He's an awesome friend. He's like the patron saint of bromance.



(And as far as romance...it was gross and all, but I STILL like him better than Kaidan.)

Jacob is a better bro for ManShep than he is as a LI for FemShep. And since I always play as ManShep I've never had a problem with Jacob. He is the epitome of TBF (token black friend), and his spill drinks line is an instant classic.

Jacob is a pretty cool character in my opinion though. His abilities are less useful on harder difficulty playthroughs, but he's a rational member of the crew who tries to do the right thing. Plus, I have respect for any minority character in modern games that doesn't talk like an idiot (Cole from gears of war <_<)

Ya I like Jacob, I just wish he would relax once in a while. Like when you tell that one blue sun merc that he might have to time to find a shady spot to bleed out under, every squadmate finds it funny except Jacob who says, "Was that really necessary?" He can be a party pooper sometimes.

I honestly don't know why there are so many Jacob haters going around. I thought he was a great character. And the bro hug really cemented the comeradery between my Shepard and him. :-)

and grunt wanted to be a new bro

but bioware only lets us bring 2 bros along

and jacob isn't as durable as grunt and doesn't have a sniper rifle or warp

so he had to stay on the ship

but he kept my guns in working order like a good bro should
