i see a lot of people with brand new avatars and I can't find them anywhere, where do you get them?

You have to register your copy of Mass Effect 2. Once you done that, change your profile picture and there is a option to choose avatar's for people who registered their copy of Mass Effect 2.

yo i just logged out and then back in again and went to change profile picture on the far left and it said mass effect 2 game owner portraits. theres loads

Yep, when you use the "change profile picture" option, the "mass effect 2 owner portraits" is the last item of the drop-down list.
It's not a thing for DA owners... as you can see, I don't have DA and I have a ME2 owner portrait.

On the right side choose "select" option THEN the left side box options should have ME2 listed for avatars.

you have to have the game registered. try changing avatar to anything and then they should be there

In the Left Hand Margin

Profile > Register Games

Register your copy of Mass Effect 2

--------------

Then, go to

Profile > Change Profile Photo

And above the left box of portraits, click on

General User Portraits
-> Mass Effect 2 Game Owner Portraits

And then just click on one, and hit "Change Profile Photo"

I myself would like to know how and when this will take effect for me.
With my copy of DAO, it still doesn't register the faces on half my characters, but I attribute that to playing DAO offline and online. Lately, the entire time i've played ME2, my XBOX has been online, but eh, I hope it comes into effect soon, I miss my femshep avatar from the old ME Forums
