I stand by my accusation. I guess Cyrena was reaaaal high to miss Leliana's face. Tsk... for shame. If Leliana can accept it though, I suppose I can too.

Cyrena is a proper noble woman and this was her first time appreciating that aspect of Dalish culture.

Why are we going on about some alleged sex that my achievements allegedly show anyways? This is about elven women non-romances.

I DID NOT CHEAT WITH ZEVRAN.

I slept with him before Leliana even complimented my hair. Image IPB

Fiiiine. You didn't cheat on her then. You showed impressive restraint. I was flirting with Leliana before we left Dane's Refuge. Which come to think of it, was rather odd given she was still splattered with blood. :o

I asked her if her fruit were forbidden, but that's just because she's so cute when she's flustered.

Hah, I did better, did the scene with Morrigan at party camp outside Flemeth's hut!

BUT, if you didn't cheat with Zevran, then you cheated WITH LELIANA AGAINST ZEV'S WISHES! Aha! Got you red handed... or was it yellow? I don't know...

So because you want to be faithful, you hope that romances aren't in the game?
How about you just don't go through with the romances. That would show more strength in your characters(and their relationships from Origins).

There are people who don't want to be faithful or who didn't romance anyone in Origins.
It'd be pretty unfair to them if BioWare decided not to add romances just because it would tempt people to cheat on their Origin LIs.

Your second argument regarding time is valid, though.
However, BioWare did say the expansion will be really big.

Yes, I admit my first comment was entirely selfish. Honestly, I expect there are romances of a sort in Awakening anyway, so there wasn't much conviction behind it. The second comment was my logical reasoning for it. In any case you make a good point about showing personal strength in resisting. I guess I'll see if I can manage that when I finally get around to playing Awakening in 2011 or so. :pinched:

I don't understand the mentality of wanting to play dating sims in the first place...so signed, as long as all romances are removed.

I would like to go on record as saying I have no strong feelings either way on the existance of a female elven love interest. I know this is a highly controversial stand, but felt it necessary to have it known, regardless.

Hey, dark-lauron began that achievement thing. I was accusing based on your Gheyna tryst. ;)

But fine, I'll get back to the topic at hand... and stuff. Female elves. Yeah. Hate 'em. Oh, and romances with them too. Let's just forget the part where I completed Viconia and Aerie's romances in Baldur's Gate 2. :?

I hope BioWare keeps to its commitment of not having elven female romanceables in Awakenings. It was one of my favorite non-existent elements in Origins, and whenever I come across the lack of elven female love interests, a little rainbow springs up in my heart.

I'd like to agree with you, Maria, but... sorry, not his time, it's the opposite here - female elven LI is rainbows and butterflies on my side Image IPB

Zevran says that he's fine with you sleeping with others. His 'no strings attached' attitude was the reason I slept with him in the first place.

Somehow missed this. I had the same conversation and choose to tease her about fruit too before leaving the tavern. Leliana approached me with hair compliments on my second trip to camp after Lothering. Should have been the first visit really, but the Archdemon dream seems to preempt it. Giving her an amulet in Lothering, donating five sovereign to the Reverend Mother, and then comprimising with that merchant shot her approval through the roof.

My first time through her romance it was over after the first treaty. Both a good and bad thing.

Actually, I kind of hope we have the option of setting her up with someone else.

Take Alistair and Morrigan for example. The sexual tension, with a knife you can cut it.

Viconia is a drow, not an elf. And I romanced her as well.

It's find to enjoy romances with elven females though, I just don't want BioWare to make any.

That's a technicality. So I'll use another by going all rulebook on you. :pinched: Drow were considered an elven subrace in the Forgotten Realms as explained in the Complete Book of Elves. They may be demon tainted mutations, but they're still considered part of the fair folk.

That was a problem with Baldur's Gate 2 though. All three male romances were with elves, and women got stuck with just Anomen. Talk about lopsided.

Edit: I just remembered the game itself also made reference to this in its description of elves during character creation.

It's not a technicallity. Saying that drow are elves because they're listed as a subrace in FR-CBoE *is* a technicallity.

Well, the game is based on pen & paper rules and as the lore of that setting is bound in those books and novels, I'm going with them. Also as I edited in too late, Baldur's Gate 1&2 both reference this by citing drow as an elven subrace alongside the others in the elf racial description during character generation.

I don't consider my PC a true fantasy hero until he has slept with at least one busty elven female, luckily Iona remedied that problem quite early in his adventure. Anyway I wouldn't mind if we got a female elven romance, honestly it's become such a staple of fantasy games too me it feels weird not to have some elven girl to romance.

Of course you are, technicalities are wrong when you disagree with them, but canon when you agree.

I'm going to drop this since it isn't worth arguing about. Ignore the part about P&P books a moment and consider the game itself says the very same thing in plain text before you start playing an elf.

Edit: On a side note, that's a fairly presumptuous statement to make. What I consider canon is what is claimed as canon by the creators of a setting. I.e.; I consider the six Star Wars movies canon above the expanded universe, even though the midochlorian thing is ridiculous. It isn't my place to decide what a creator considers an official part of their setting. BioWare's FR games are not treated as canon. The rulebooks, novels, and writings of Ed Greenwood are. But even putting this whole thing aside, the game itself claims drow are part of the larger elven race as I already pointed out numerous times.

Mere technicallity.

In spirit, drow are their own non-elf critters.

In spirit? So basically they're non-elf critters based on your opinion that they should be. Unless you're willing to elaborate on what you mean by in spirit.

Edit: Actually, no. I said I'd shut up so I'm going to do that. Nevermind. We obviously disagree and I don't see a point in butting heads over something this trivial.

If you assume the systemic elven hegemony (allegorical or literal) in Bioware  romances, it becomes very obdurate to refute this argument.

No it's not; if it's invisible, then you can't see it.

Also, you all complain and discuss this "cheating on romances" thing.  I don't have to worry about that, thanks to mod-ability.  I got blondes, brunettes AND redheads, and none of 'em care.
