Is it just me or is anyone else suspitiouse of Leliana?
Think about it, She went from being a bard to the chantry..? Not without reason....
Yes Marjolin hunted her but maybe it wasnt for the reasons she said.
In the temple at the Urn of Sacred Ashes the guy says she was lying and that the maker never came to her in a dream.
I think Leliana is going to betray you and perhaps that is why you 'Happy ever after' ends wth her at the veryend (if you romanced her.)
Any thoughts?

You are showing me a real nightmare...

Well.. until now I've heard people saying she will die.. she will be cursed.. she will die for a illness.. she will be as Liara in ME2... now I heard by you she will cheat us.. People really show no mercy for all of us who loved Leliana.. sigh :(

I say it's possible. After all Marjolain warns you about her possible betrayal. She's a bard, a seducer and could play the naive sort just for her third goals. But, I don't think so...

On my first playthrough I was convinced Leliana was going to betray the Warden or turn out to be in the employ of Loghain or Howe, however this was mainly due to reading The Stolen Throne beforehand. It coloured my view of bards, and I was convinced Leliana was gonna pull a Kateriel on my first PC. She never did though, so I trusted her on each playthrough after that (possibly my first mistake, :-))

Hopefully she won't betray my Wardens who loved her, that would be pretty sad and put the Morrigan ending to shame for tragedy (would be good drama though, and open the way to some possible elven romance, if it hasn't been banned yet, don't listen to Maria Bioware :-))

There are two big, huge, monstrous holes with your theory there. First of why would she simply betray you? There is no logical reason so if something were to happen it would have been an objective set up long before she ever met you. The question is why would someone sick a bard on you, or why would a bard care, about people who are all complete unknowns to the powers that be in Orlais, aside from the human noble origin perhaps and even that is a huge stretch.

The second is why weren't you dispatched in the dozens of opportunities she had through your journeys. If this was some insidious plot and your demise was the main objective why wait a year or two when there were plenty of opportunities to begin with. You stopping the Blight was a stretch to begin with so I'm not sure why that would be taken into consideration.

Hate to say it (Being another Leliana fan)
But I see Marjolaine returning to kill her, the game dialogue puts the kill Marjolaine options bottom of the list. Theres our cameo in the vein of BG2 cameos.. Its not funny, dont do that. Image IPB

Another cop-out would be.
She tries to become a Grey warden and... fails. Image IPB

Leliana : "I had a vision! :O"
PC : "Oh dear... :?"
Leliana :"The maker told me to help the world, by becoming a grey warden! :wizard:"
PC : "Ehh... ooo-kay! Join us brothers and sisters and whatever else, please, do feel free to drink some blood... <_<"
Leliana : "Uhh... that's... not as cool as I..."
PC : "I am sorry, Leliana:bandit:"

It's true! I still remember the cries of pain when she waded into the Cullen fangirls.

And all those stories Leliana tells?
"Here's a happy tale about the first female knight. She gets her throat slit!" Image IPB

"Here's a story about a man and woman who love one another. They both die! It's been hundreds of years and their souls are still desperately trying to touch one another again.. and failing!" Image IPB

"Here's a story about the Maker's Bride. Her husband betrays her and she ends up roasting like a suckling pig until someone stabs her in the heart. Whenever I'm feeling down, I like to think of this and my faith is renewed." Image IPB

I honestly wanted to ask her if she knew *any* happy stories. She’d probably look confused and tell me those were the happy stories. Her others are much more depressing.

I don't think it would end well for Bioware if they pulled any BS with Leliana. She is one of the most popular characters they have created and seemingly the fan favourite of Dragon Age. To arbitrarily pull more Viconia like BS would not only be stupid and cruel, it would ensure I never buy another Bioware game again.

My guess is that by Canon lore.. She will be a rotting corpse near the defiled Urn of Andraste.
Just as Zevran never made into your party,Shale is rubble near the Anvil,Wynne died in the Circle tower and Alistair was executed.

See.. Problem solved for Bioware.

Ah yes, the anguished screams of Cullen fangirls warm my heart even now. I was completely dumbfounded when I found out that he had a huge following, and that was without even playing as a female mage.

I think that whole thing with the agonizingly painful love stories that Leliana tells is part of her appeal for some people. She's an optimist and an idealist despite the fact that she knows how terrible the world can be.

I don't see a lot of the romance sidequests ending pleasantly. I think that the Morrigan romance is setting itself up for a tragic arc. Just like everybody else, she wants love, but her goals (whatever they are) are so important, that she knows it can never be.

Tragic love stories are so cliched and usually horrible now. Too many writers think tragedy equals quality drama when it really simply equals contrived slop.

I have little respect for tragedy anymore. It has been corrupted as a cop out for cheap drama,

My impression of Leliana's meeting with the Guardian is that the guardian was being quite careful to instill doubt without outright accusing her of lying, and allowing Leliana to draw her own conclusion. It's like the Aes Sedai thing - every word he says is true, but is he really saying what you think he is?

On the more general topic: While it would have been a reasonable concern for the PC during the game, maintaining it afterwards does seem to be a bit paranoid. Consider that by the end of the game most if not all of the usual suspects for her employer are...resolved in some manner, if she does have some ulterior motive, she's playing a very long game.

What really sucks with Awakenings is that, unless there is some damn fancy writing, I can't import almost 70 percent of characters... most of them are either travelling, searching for Morgan, or dealing with new responsibilites (mostly related to Elvish characters). I only have a couple of Warden's that are actively interested in rebuilding or even participating in such Warden activities.

Ma'am, I'm afraid you've confused me.  Not that it's hard, mind you, but there you are.
