Hmm, I wasnt aware that Cailan had mistresses, or possibly. I guess all kings cant be loyal to there queens.

If the Anora and the Grey Warden do try to make an heir, there shouldnt be any problems if she isnt the in-fertile one. Since he has the ability to get Morrigan pregnant if he wanted too.

He gets Morrigan pregnant because of the magic ritual involved. people forget that. Under normal circumstances, it would be far more difficult and sketchy. But Morrigan was using weird, exotic magical methods to achieve this goal.

I myself do not believe Anora is necessarily the barren one. There is no way at that point in the game to know. Cailan could have been shooting blanks. or, they probably never really tried that hard for an heir. perhaps they decided to put it off for a while, for whatever reason. Who knows. Until the developers pipe in with confirmation, Anora's fertility, or lack of it, shall remain one of those question marks.

Anyway, no proof that she is barren, except she's older than Cailan and in her late 20's.

Wasn't she was only a few months older than Cailan?  I seem to remember Anora saying something about the marriage being cooked up by both their sets of parents when she was hardly a year old and Cailan still in swaddling clothes.  This, of course, is in the conversation you have with her after rescuing her, but I can't remember the specific dialogue options you have to take to get her to say this.

But yes, she's approaching 30, which in that setting seems to be considered almost middle age!

She says Cailan was newborn and she was in swaddling clothes.  That ought to make her just a few months, maybe a year, older.

Maybe she's barren. However, I have a crazy theory that involves her and/or the warden being healed of their inability to have children using the "Sacred Ashes". It is as follow:

"Maybe it's just me, but I've always thought that this heir problem could be solved with a pinch of the "Sacred Ashes" (that is if you left it intact). If it was able to cure Eamon's disease, it could also be used to cure the warden's and/or Anora's inability to have children. That could be used as an idea for a new side quest... Perhaps everytime someone succeeds at taking a pinch of the ashes the gauntlet challenges are changed, because if it stood the same, the person that acquired the ashes could easily tell anyone how to succeed."
