**hey guys, first time on the BioWare Forum and I didn't know where to post this, if you know, please direct me. Thanks, and enjoy my ideas!!!

After completing three run-throughs on ME1, and two, going on three for ME2, I decided to take it upon myself and make a thread dedicated to logical choices for the upcoming Mass Effect 3. It truly is a wonderful thought to think that ME3 will be even more polished, and more creative then its amazing predecessors.

First, I wanted to state that no matter what is said in this forum, Mass Effect 2 is THE greatest game I have ever played, and that BioWare has continued to be the leading RPG maker in the gaming industry.

So to start off, lets go with the problems I saw in the game.

-Texture and polish
The game looked beautiful, but at the same time, things seemed scratchy and     undefined. Take, for example, the Elcor that is smoking a cigar. It looks as it if is     just floating there, and doesn’t belong in the alien’s ‘mouth’. Little things like this     don’t truly affect game play and are easily overlooks. My main problem were     three things.
        -The Illusive man’s cigarette
Not a big problem, but annoying when it is sometimes the main                 picture in a cut scene.
        -Sheppard’s cheeks
Highly Annoying when Sheppard gets angry and he glares, causing             his cheeks to point under his eyes. It takes the seriousness of the                 situation and adds a distraction to the picture.
        -Scene loading
Most definitely my biggest problem. BioWare promised this would             be gone this time around, yet, it still takes time to load the amazing             scenery that they have created. Though a slight problem, it makes a             awkward intro to a scene that could be important.
-The Speech Circle
This piece of game play is what made Mass Effect so great. Being able to pick     something and not hear it droned out by the character makes for a much more     cinematic play through. But when your offered up a investigate option, and go into     detail about thing because you fear not talking about something may have an     effect in ME3, it takes away from the conversation. A way to fix this could be     integrating the actual conversation into the investigate options, as in relaying it     back into the conversation to make it more interesting.

Those are the only two things that are really “Wrong” with the game in my eyes. And I have created this post to help other express there likes and dislikes, pro’s and con’s, so that the ME3 team can take into consideration what the players want, like the have expertly done through out ME2.

Now going to the most fun part in my eyes, the characters!!!!
Organized by each game, and new character, this is my list of Team Members that should appearer in ME3, AND original members who SHOULD NOT be on the team will be explained below.
        *TM=Team Member
        *IKIA=If Killed in action
They were killed in the first or second game and cannot be in the                 third
        *LI=Love Interest
They were a love interest and are in the third game
        *DF=Default
For New Sheppard’s in the third game.
        *ME3 P =ME3 Possibility
            New member opinions from me
        *PLI= Possible Love Interest

Mass Effect 1_________________________________________

Ashley Williams (ME1)
    ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: No

Ash offers no specialty for the team against the reapers, and only should be on the     team IF there was a love interest.

Garrus Vakarian (ME1,ME2)
    ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: Yes

Garrus has been through the whole way with Saren and the reapers, and with     Sheppard and the Reapers. Though Hot-headed, the Third installment should     show his growth as a person and into a truly battle skilled asset to the team.

Kaidan Alenko (ME1)
    ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: No / DF: No

Though a powerful Biotic, Kaidan resents Sheppard in joining with Cerberus.     Even can open for a fight, with an emotional ending.

Liara T'Soni (ME1)
    Me3 TM:
        IKIA: N/A / LI: Y/N / DF: Yes

If Liara was a love interest and was helped on Illium, she joins the team with     valuable knowledge of the Protheans and experience from being a Informant. Now
with the rank of Asari Commando

.
 Tali'Zorah nar Rayya (ME1, ME2)
    ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: No

If not in a relationship with the player, Tali returns to the migrant fleet and     becomes a admiral in her father’s place, and if loyal, winning the Migrant Fleet’s     approval to go to war against the Reapers.
If she is in a relationship with the player, she stays on the ship, still winning the     approval to go to war, provided the player had gained loyalty. Having valuable     information about Geth and there Reaper gods, she works with     Legion to     make a weapon to fight the Reapers.

Urdnot Wrex (ME1)
    ME3 TM:
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: No

Simply, Wrex still needs time to gather more Krogan clans under Clan Urdnot.     BUT, if Wrex did not die on Virmire, he is willing to help against the war with the     Reapers, and having a whole Krogan clan would be invaluable.

Mass Effect 2____________________________________________________________

Grunt (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: No

Though my favorite character has to be Grunt for a lot of reasons. I would see him     needing to be with clan Urdnot to help unite other clans. He would make an     appearance in the war with the reapers.

Jack (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: No

If the player did not pursue a love interest with Jack, She sees her commitment         fulfilled and leaves the Normandy, becoming a pirate in the Terminus Systems.     Action may need to be taken.

Jacob Taylor (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: Yes

Having survived the Collector ship, and not being able to go back to Cerberus,     Jacob stays with the team

Legion (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF:  Yes

Having a Geth as a team member is invaluable. Legion works with Tali to develop     a weapon to help fight the reapers.

Miranda Lawson (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: Yes

    Same as Jacob

Mordin Solus (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: Yes

Mordin is a huge asset to the team, being able to study the technology of the     collectors to help develops ground weapons to help fight the reaper’s ground     troops.

Samara/Morinth (ME2)
Samara: IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: Yes
Morinth: IKIA: No / LI: Yes / DF: No

If Samara survived the Collector ship, she is a valuable asset to the team being the     powerful biotic as she is.

If the player decides to pursue Morinth as a love interest, but decides not to have     sex with her, she becomes obsessed, demanding to stay on the mission to pursue     the man/woman who denied her love.

Thane Krios (ME2)
IKIA: No / LI: No / DF: No

Indefinitely, Thane should die after talking with Kolyat Krios, the character being     there depending on the love interest or not.

Zaeed Massani (ME2 DLC)
IKIA: No / LI: N/A / DF: No / *Exception

Zaeed, having fulfilled his contract, leaves the Normandy and is hired by the     Illusive man to hunt Sheppard.

*Depending on how the Loyalty mission for Zaeed played out, He could come     back as a loyal member to the team. This could only be achieved by Zaeed killing     Vido, which would mean following the Renegade path.

Mass Effect 3 Additions____________________________________________________

Kolyat Krios (ME3 P)
    PLI: Yes / DF: Yes

Having followed in his Father’s footsteps, he join Sheppard after his fathers death.

Kelly Chambers (ME3 P)
    PLI: Yes / DF: Y/N

Could be a member of team on player’s decision. Still acts as Yeoman, but     unlocks Solider Skill Tree.

Shiala (ME3 P)
    PLI: Yes / DF: No

If Sheppard let her live of Feros, and helped her on Illium, she will join the crew     with NEW biotic powers as the green Asari.

Anything else, like team members dying, will have to be filled in, or maybe not. But these are my subjections for ME3 character wise. If you visit the BioWare site, you’ll noticed that two more spaces are still ‘classified’ in the team member section. Most likely a DLC and I will have to update the list.

Improvements:

    Interruption system:
When a good character does a Renegade action to a Renegade character,             Renegade points earned should be reduced, and when a Renegade                 Character does a Renegade action to a Paragon character, they should earn             additional Renegade points.
Plot Ideas:

Here are a few ideas for the plot game play of ME3

Of course, the main focus of the game will be the reapers, and finding people to fight for the cause. The council will need to be convinced, along with the Alliance. IF you chose Anderson for council, Alliance immediately backs your claims, if you chose Udina, the council is less harder to convince. For both, you will need adequate information about the reapers. Some is gathered from EDI when she scanned the ship, and some on the data pad you see Sheppard holding at the end video. This will be enough to convince them to back you up in the War against the Reapers.

You will also need variety, mainly four I can think of.
-Rachnai. IF you helped the queen, and received the message on Illium, you gain     her favor in fighting against the Reapers, but, the alliance will cause a     controversy, but after the council had been convinced, they join your cause.
*Maybe even a Rachni Team Member to represent on the Flagship,                 Normandy SR2

-Geth. Assuming you chose to re-write the Geth in Legion’s loyalty mission, you     can gain the advantage of having every Geth on your side. Again, this causes huge     controversy in the Council, but with an alliance between the Quariens and Geth,     the other aliens have no other choice but to fall in.

-Quariens. With Tali being called back to be an Admiral on the Migrant Fleet     Admiralty Board, she is a invaluable in convincing them to join against the     Reaper Threat. Once a treaty is struck between the Geth and Quariens, they join     the fight.
*If Tali or Legion dies, convincing the people to join is much harder, an             exception to this would be Tali and Sheppard Love interest, in which she             still is an admiral, but travels with Sheppard.

-Krogan. If Wrex is in power, and Grunt survived the Battle on the Collector     ship, then this group will be the easiest to recruit. If Wrex was killed, and Grunt     did not survive, then these will be the Hardest to convince to join.

Here is a list of other, smaller groups that would join the end battle. By end battle, I mean the Largest, coolest cut scenes in the game, featuring mass hysteria against the Reapers and there drones.

Good Guys:
Feros Human Colony (If helped in ME2)
Citadel Security (If council is convinced)
    Cerberus* (Explained in detail below)
-Any more you guys can think of?-
*The story with Cerberus will be another main plot. If you betrayed the Illusive man, he will secretly hire people to kill you, but back the Human force to fight the Reapers. If you did not betray him, he asks you to make sure the council and aliens meet there demise in the Final Battle.

Bad Guys (Reaper Drones):
The Vorcha (As said by the group on Omega)
Husks (New, final version, full capability, gun use and all other types)
Collectors Remnants (Remains of the collectors that were not on the ship) ((??))
Keepers (Not actual ground troops, maybe controlling gun batteries?)
Reaper Drones (Small, human sized Reaper Warriors) ((Just a fun thought :D))

I just started ME2 and really I miss the old team. I don't mind the new team, but I don't really have a connection with them yet. Maybe for ME3 they can make it so that you can bring your old team members with you. I really liked the side quests and the romance aspect made me laugh, so I enjoyed that too. It was really funny to run across the galaxy shooting everything and then go dancing in a club. Still makes me laugh. I am glad Joker was back but I miss Kadian and T'soni. Still love the game though, so really doesn't matter.

That's daunting to read because the paragraphs are messed up. Fix it first then I'll consider.

Interesting, and I like your ideas on teams (even if I am yet to be sold on your reasoning and creative ideas plot-wise - such as Liara being a Commando...) The problem I see from this, however, is that the game will be a BEAST (like 60+ GB worth), and will require multiple playthroughs of all three games to completely experience the whole deal.

I also am not a fan of the whole 'you need an army' thing - an army of reapers will blow through an army of non-reapers so lets just let that go. Personally, and feel free to critique me on this, I think it should get even darker - so dark that the council flips out so much as to declare our hero a rogue from justice and forces the commander to save the very people who are out to get him. A whole redemptionist "I told you so" twist, that will jerk a lot of chains when you see everyone you like take the flak for the actions of you and your team.

Talin, Garrus, Shiala, and anyone else who is loyal only to Shepard regardless of what anyone else thinks should be on the team so we can get down the very wire with a team of fugitives who have to go out and save the galaxy while dodging the law at the same time :)

I agree with "cptcanuck". Having a Renegade Shepard so bad, that he could become the bad guy sounds like a very interesting idea.

Tali HAS TO BE IN THE GAME. I WILL DESTROY BIOWARE AND EVERYONE WHO HAD A SAY SO IN THE MAKING OF THE GAME IF SHE IS LEFT OUT AS A CREW MEMBER AND LOVE INTEREST.

Just kidding... (for now)

I think there should be more complex conversation options when talking to people. Like in ME2, you could only actually talk to people if you were romantically interested in them. As they have Paragon/Renegade options, for crewmates they should have LI/Friendship options.

For example: I love Tali, but does that mean I can't be Miranda's friend?

But cptcanuck's Renegade Shep idea is awesome.

I think its a start, but seeing as the council will not take Shepard's word for what the players actions on the Collector base will play out a huge part in ME3. Only time will tell.

As for the team, I feel that some characters from ME1 should return (Kaiden/Liara/Ashley), but knowing Bioware, they'll balance it out with the teams from both games, and who knows, maybe there will be a whole new team. That is probably not likely, but rather include the option rather than leaving it out.

It kind of is.  There's a lot of disregard for what we've been told.

First: If Ashley and Liara can come back as squadmates, so will Kaiden.  You may not like him, you may not think he's a great character, but the ME1 love interests will have parity.  We've been told that there will be resolution to the ME1 romances.  Knowing BioWare, if there's a happy ending option for one of them, there's going to be a happy ending option for all of them.
That paragraph on Alenko is just the biggest glaring sign of some sort of personal bias or over thinking.

Next: Kelly as a squadmate?  That's not even funny, clever, feasible or likely.

Also, you completely assumed Paragon ending of ME2 in MANY regards.  There are other options to where loyalties lie by the end in relation to Cerberus.

Samara straight up says that she will part ways but will be available whenever Shepard calls for her in the future.  That makes her seem "non-default".

Kolyat has no training, is a bumbling idiot with a gun and has the nerves of a wet napkin.  Some assassin he's likely to turn out to be.

Jack - again, BioWare promised closure to all relationships.  Odds are that if other love interests are squadmates, she will be as well.

The only part I think is reasonable (and is something that BIoWare has made a bit too obvious and everyone is thinking the same thing) is the "Dragon Age-esque" faction loyalty gathering aspect you predicted toward the end.

There are a number of factions that we've had the possibility of pissing off or helping at some point:
1) Rachni
2) Geth
3) Krogan (both through Wrex/Grunt and keeping Maelon's Genophage cure work)
4) Quarians
5) Council
6) Alliance
7) Cerberus

And minorly:
A) the Shadow Broker
B) Aria T'Loak and Omega
C) Synthetic Insights, ExoGeni, Binary Helix / Noveria Internal Affairs

The fact that these earned loyalties will play a roll in ME3 is something not even worth mentioning.  Everyone sees that coming.
