The toolset have been installing for the last hour and seems to be stuck at the stage of "Execute:regsvr32.exe /s "d:\\Dragon Age\\tools\\Engine.dll"

The install bar seems to be done, but nothing is happening.  Anyone else having this issue?

At this step in the installation process, Windows will sometimes pop up a window asking for permission to allow regsvr to do its thing. Is it possible that this window popped up behind something and is waiting for your input?

Unless that window is invisible, no.

I see no other windows. Any idea what the process would be called so I can see if it's doing it at all?

I had the same issue, told windows to unblock it and let it do it's thing, but it is still hung up. Any help would be appreciated as I had to shut down the install and now I cannot install it because it says that it cannot edit the .dll files that it modified in the first install.

Edit:

Okay restarted PC, and no problem with the .dll's but i still get stuck at the ' Execute: regsvr32.exe /s "E:\\Games\\Dragon Age\\tools\\Engine.dll" '

Anybody have any idea why?  I notice that it says regsvr32, and I am running Windows 64, but I am not sure that would be why this part of the install is hanging.

Please help.

*sigh*

Me too.

XP (32bit)
2.4 Core 2 duo
8800 GTX
2 gigs of ram
retail DAO, game runs fine at max settings, no hidden pop-ups asking if I want to install something, latest drivers, updates, service packs, etc.

Are you guys going to need the dxdiag file?

I've had the exact same problem, tried it several times with my firewall both turned on and off, it still hangs at the same point.

I've just been sent a message asking for me to email the toolset installer log to Bioware, so with a bit of luck and fingers crossed.  Posted Image

Hmmm, just realised, it looks as though everyone that i've seen so far with this problem is installing it to a drive other than C, I wonder if that's the problem?

Would be nice if it was that easy, would be a real quick fix in the Toolset Installer.  Let's pray that is all that is needed to be done.

I would think that would be an SQL issue....the toolset asks where DA is installed. SQL is weird weird weird!

Good catch there, Orkboy! I've only got a few log files in on this one but the pattern you spotted seems to be holding so far. I'll pass this along to see if that's the clue we needed. :)

Oh please be the answer!!  Really been looking forward to using the toolset.

If this works, thank you Orkboy!

Same problem here. The setup seems to be working just fine, I can minimize it and wait for an answer here :)

Drat, I just got a log file for this error where the target drive was C:. Combo breaker.

Still, there are a lot of non-C drives in there. We'll keep working on this.

Here is a quick question has anyone been able to close the installer when it gets stuck at this point? I mean other than doing a CTRL+ALT+DEL and ending the process?

Just curious, would really like to not have to do that again and then restart again as well.

NOOOOOO!!  Guess a lot of folks just install their games in partitions other than C.  There goes the easy fix and any hope of being able to use the toolset soon :(

Alright, we're pretty sure at this point that it's regsvr32.exe that's hanging for some unknown reason. So if you encounter this problem on installing, open the task manager and kill regsvr32.exe. The installer should continue on installing after that's done. This could mean that engine.dll won't be registered, however, so you may need to do that manually.

To manually register the dll, go to "run" in your start menu and type in the following command:

regsvr32 "C:\\Program Files\\Dragon Age\\tools\\Engine.dll"

(or substitute the actual path to Engine.dll if it it's different from that). It should pop up a "success!" message. If it fails, it should hopefully pop up an error message that will tell us how to fix it once and for all. It should be safe to re-try this command over and over, registering the dll more than once is harmless.

Worked just fine for me. I am able to load up the toolset now. And the game works just fine, none of the lost saved game issues I was seeing reported earlier.

Thank you Bryan!
