me1 scenes are better in my opinion.

more emotional.

That's my feeling, too, though it's partially driven by the writing. There wasn't enough interaction with your romance options in most cases. You don't get to know them as deeply. Though it's better for male Sheps than femmes. More emotionally-driven, it seems... which is weird. Where are outdated gender stereotypes about relationships in those few cases you actually need them?!

Tali and Jack seem to be good, but Miranda sounds like she's more about sex--same with Jacob--and Thane seems to have a bug regarding his romance scene, not to mention he doesn't even take his shirt off. The kiss was beautiful but there just wasn't enough passion to the scene. They just kiss. Garrus... meh. It was weird, awkward, and kinda creepy. Everything was. I was so turned off, in contrast to how much I longed for him to be an option in ME1. I know, suicide mission, but still... you'd think you'd want to make a connection before you die, not just shag.

I loved that we had so many options, but not that it felt like we barely knew them before hopping into the sack, with the exception of Thane who showed you his real emotions but still mostly talked about his family rather than himself. *puts head in hands and sighs*

I found Garrus' to be the most meaningful IMO. They should've been longer though, I'm pretty sure it could have been done without any undressing or any of that. I've seen examples of how it could've worked.

That's how I felt.  Given everything they've been through and all, and the game takes that all into account.   Plenty of dialogue throughout both from Garrus and to Garrus about past events.  I'd imagine the same goes for Tali.

However, I also agree that the ME2 romances don't stack up to the ME1 romances.  The whole chain of events leading up to Ilos as well as the missions themselves with said LIs really fleshes it all out.  ME2 just doesn't have that touch, except perhaps with Tali and Garrus.  And that's not so much due to ME2's storyline.  Rather it's the culmination of ME1 + ME2.

Really? Garrus's? The entire time it's gun calibration, gun calibration, then WHAMO, reach and flexibility. Oh, how romantic, he's talking about screwing another woman and FemShep can say all sleazy-like, "Hey, I wanna screw you too, tiger, wink wink, stress relief." And Mordin is all "chafing LOL," which was funny but only emphasized the weird. Then Garrus is all, "Yeah... yeah, I'll do some research and figure out how to... you know. I want to euphemism for sex you up (release some tension) baby." The best he says is, "I want some moments just for us before the galaxy explodes." And then you finally get him in your quarters and he's like, "uh, wine... dorky music... awkward compliment..." cute, in character, but so weird and unnatural. Why did FemShep have to be so un-subtle and pervy in order to get this going?

The only really sweet and touching part is when you shush him and he mentions that his life sucks right now and you touch foreheads... it's nice, but the way it built... I don't know. The way it built made it feel as out of the blue as the pervy flirting. Couldn't they have touched each others' faces or something?

I went through the romance, but I didn't feel like it authentically worked, more like it came out of the blue entirely and wasn't based on the right things. I felt like there should've been a much more natural buildup than there was. Not just creepy hitting on each other, but more emotion-driven all the way through, not just in the final two sentences of the romance.

That was exactly what bothered me, though--I loved having a connection like that, but 75% or more of what I felt for Garrus in terms of potential romantic interest came from ME1. I wanted there to be an emotional payoff, and there sort of was, but only at the end. The rest was all calibration. So much calibration!!! :(

I definitely see what you mean. I went with the Garrus romance and while I was happy with how touching the end result was, the fact that we essentially scheduled a booty call just felt so..awkward to me. And not the aforementioned adorable awkwardness. It just felt a lot more natural in the first game.

My favorite is Thane, but I did the deed with Miranda last night and I found it very enjoyable. She has nice assets.

Yes! Yes! Who goes to a turian for a booty call? This is what I don't understand! Maybe a quarian, because they're presumably softer than turians and their body shapes are very appealing and obviously one gender or the other. So who would go for a booty call with a turian rather than, say, Jacob or Thane, who have normal chests and no dextro-amino-acid problems?

I hated the build-up, and that reduced my enjoyment of the culmination. It should have been entirely emotion-based. You can't make an utterly alien love interest and then make it mostly about getting freaky. It doesn't work.

The Garrus romance is really less about a physical attraction of sex and more about kindred spirits. Nothing more, nothing less.

As for the flirting.... well lets just say if you do something like that to someone in RL one of three things happens.

1) Goes right over their head.

2) They realize what you mean and turn beet red.

3) They have an even wittier response that leads to some intense and interesting foreplay.

I happen to of appreciated it.

@Wynne: ugh, yes, unsubtle Shepard is paaaainful to watch. I was having a perfectly pleasant conversation with Thane, fleshing out his backstory, when it presents me the option to say "I want you, Thane". I was like "SLOW DOWN, LADY". She flirts with all the tact of a gorilla riding a bulldozer.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...the romances in ME2 weren't that good. They were quick and painful to watch with some pretty bad dialog. The first game at least had a lot of talking going on before the actual event and even after the event. This game didn't even give that satisfaction. It was all about getting laid and not about the meaning behind it.

I ended up "romancing" Tali, because I thought there would be some interesting discussions about who she was and why she was doing what she was doing, but there was nothing. I said, "I like you" and she said, "let me find a way for us to do the nasty." No work, no build up, nothing. I hope they do a better job of it next time, because I was really disappointed with how they handled it in this game. The last game was much better in this regard.

In you fine peoples' opinion, what is the best femshep romance? I'm probably going to make a female Shepard as my next character and I want to know which one is the most entertaining.

This was probably the greatest thing I've read all day.

Thank you.

Depends on your definition of entertaining xD
Garrus' made me smile because of how silly and fumbly he is, and then it ends on a sweet moment that made all the horrible flirting and "chafing" talks worth it.

Jacob is entertaining in the same way a bad porn is entertaining.
"Heavy risk. But the priiiiiize"

Thane's is easily the most touching of the three.

Tali's is cute and sweet. Miranda's had me hoping it was more like the ME1 scenes lol, you just can't tease her "assets" all game and not at least show a split second snippet. But I still liked those two. Haven't seen Jack's yet, thats next. As for the best, I like Tali's and Miranda's equally, both well done.

Eh, even though it started out kinda weird, I like Garrus' romance the best. By the second conversation it becomes pretty clear that it's much more than just a "booty call", but it's subtle. I can understand why a lot of people wouldn't like that, because I didn't at first, but now I think I prefer it BECAUSE it requires some reading between the lines. Plus, the final scene was very touching and made everything worth it.

Thane's romance was nice, but it kind of bored me until the very end were it suddenly became super dramatic out of nowhere. I just never personally felt much of a real connection between Thane and Shepard, but I can see why others like the Thane romance.

Don't get me started on Jacob. I just hope that in ME3, the romances are all done better, both the new and continuing ones.

I do agree that Garrus did feel like a booty call. I wish they presented the option of saying that there were feelings there since the first game, but eh.

I'm a bit forward myself, but FemShep's super forwardness was a bit awkward to watch.

I guess you could make the argument that she's just a tough broad who knows what she wants and knows how to get it..but..even when she plays coy it makes me wince. I just want to hit her in the nose with a newspaper. BAD SHEPARD. BAD. NOT CUTE.

ME1 scenes were better but Tali's scene was nice. All nervous in the beginning and when the mask comes off she just jump Shepard
