Jack - Paragon is touching. She finally (finally) opens up to you. You can't even see that side of her unless you romance her. She crumbles before you and becomes the "scared little girl" she thought she grew out of. While her crying the entire time was emotion... my only issue is it was a tad unnerving.

This franchise has a bit of difficulty selling the romances in general because of the way the squad interaction system works: no banter; no talk off ship; no teammate-initiated conversations. It's hard to make the relationships feel integrated when a game is missing all of that. But in ME1, they managed to integrate the relationships with the story as much as was feasible within the game structure: it seemed as if the romance was progressing because of shared experiences happening in plot. The ultimate sex scene was mature and tasteful.
I totally agree on the selling of the romances. That is one thing DA:O did a much better job of (including just selling the characters in general) right up until you hit the "sexy time", then it was rather hideous to watch.

Tali and Garrus.
Tali first, because Bioware made it so damn tastefully and captured the whole emotions behind Tali letting someone see her face for the first time. I was sincerely blown away that Bioware would actually hide her face; I thought they were going to take a low blow and let you see what she looked like.
Then Garrus, just because you can tell from there that you haven't nearly gotten into the romance yet, and it's far from being love. It's exciting because it's two people, thrust together and gradually transitioning from being just good friends to casual sex and then hinting just at the end that it might become something more.
I disagree about the Garrus romance. It definitely isn't casual sex, but if I went into detail I'd just derail the topic so I'm going to leave it at that.

Kaidan's...but I think all the ME love scenes were better than the ME2 ones.
In ME1 you had Liara, who basically just had a couple of dialogues that were romance-related. One of them basically said, "Hey I like you, do you like me back?", one said "hey guess what I'm a virgin, lets do it later :D". Ashley was almost as sudden. She was more fleshed out as a character, but all you did was talk to her about her family a couple times and all of a sudden she says, "Hey, so you're still interested right?". I was like.. whoa. I thought we were just friends!
This gets my vote.GnusmasTHX wrote...

Liara's romance is the most forced down your throat throughout the series and she doesn't seem to have much of a personality at all other than the "Socially awkward hot nerd". Miranda has a terrible personality, Jack is a total psychopath, and Ashley is a racist brute. Tali is my favourite, she's like a clingy fan girl, except attractive. But that's just my opinion.
