Are these problems ever fixed or do they fall on deaf ears?

BioWare traditionally fixes and addresses their problems. Contributing to the high regard in which the company is held. Problems like these could stem from a variety of circumstances, and in this case, BioWare itself may not have its hands on an easy correction.

Bump. This needs some kind of response, even a "we're looking into it" would be nice.

All right; I'm not sure if this -was- the problem, or if there's another fix for it besides what I wound up doing (factory defaulting the computer is a bit extreme, after all), but here's a bit of further information since I now got the game to work.
I had an error with Vista that, when I'd go into the Computer properties to view the system specs, it said my processor and ram were not available. I did some looking around on Google, it's apparently caused by AIM so I'm not downloading it again EVER, but I digress. As near as we could figure, that was the only thing that would have kept the configuration utility from working... since my own computer couldn't tell it what the specs were.
I backed everything I wanted to save up on a flash drive and did the factory default system restore, set my computer back up, uninstalled all the annoying extras, etc. Got all my drivers and Vista Sys Pack 1 installed again, put the game back on, and now it works.
I don't know much about computers beyond basic maintenance and not being stupid and clicking strange pop-ups, so I couldn't possibly say if there's any other way to take care of it, but I felt it prudent to post about this so anyone else having the problem can check their Computer properties and see if that particular part of the issue was just me or not.

It makes sense, the obvious work around would be that if hardware could not be detected, configuration is automatically set to low.
