I'd like to speculate on the character of Zaeed, and why I believe he has the type of personality to come back for the final confontation.
As we all already agree one, Zaeed does not come off as the type of person to just take his paycheck and run, even though this has been his way of making a living for the past 20 years. We can also agree that the Illusive Man has paided him enough credits to live a comfortable life wherever he pleases, never having to take up another contract again: this is of course not how Zaeed would end his career. Through the dialogue we did get to have with Zaeed we come to learn that he's more then just some heartless killer out to make a quick buck, while screwing over everyone he meets...that infact is Vido's personality, which is why him and Zaeed did not work out as business partners. We also learn on his loyalty mission and throughout all his on-ship dialogue that he thrives in combat, and doesn't shy away from the impossible. This of course is stuff we all already accept.
When you go to Illium with Zaeed and spark the dialogue option while standing infront of the security office, he speaks about how he gets his contracts, and the way in which he cares for his mission. This to me speaks of an individual who takes pride in his work so much so that he reflects on what the job is about, and then determines in based on his own personal ethics. That's kind of why I like Zaeed so much - he's the type of person to do whats right, not because it's the law, but because he believes in it...essentially there are lines he wont cross because he knows just how sinister the motives are.
That said, I feel as though Zaeed will return because of his reactions while on the collector ships: there is a real sense of enlightenment and rage. Zaeed know's the score now, he knows the threat, and he knows how godam imperative it is that these monsters get taken down before they get the chance to do more horrid things. The upcoming battle is what Zaeed was made for; it's what he has been working towards all his life and never knew it. In the end, I just have a hard time believing that Zaeed is the type of person to just walk away now that his contract was fulfilled. I DO believe that he is the type of person who realizes that if the reapers aren't stopped then he wont be able to use the money he's made from Cerberus - and that my friends is not good business.

I want Zaeed as an LI! LI LI LI! Maybe I'd go for him over Garrus when I play a Fem Shep. I mean he's just 40 according to Bioware, agreed the scars make him look older... but doesn't Shep have more scars than him if he/she's Renegade? So I approve of this big godamm hero who made me beat the Collectors! THUMBS UP FOR THE BADDASS!
I wish Bioware would make him an LI too. I think he's sexy with his scars and experience. Even just a fling would be fun. Kelly is a fling. Donnelly was going to be a fling. Why not Zaeed? I would prefer an all out romance though as long as it's not mushy and actually done in character. However, I really don't think this will ever come to fruition. At this point I would be overjoyed to just have him back as a squaddie in ME3.

Sorry for using the word "cute". I hope I didn't break the badass mood around here. But think about it! I just see it, Zaeed being the embodiment of the manliness and courage Chakwas admires, mixed with the whole "dangerous mercenary" excitement... I've never paid much attention to Dr. Chakwas, I have to admit. But I can see her with Zaeed, at least for a while. She's not married, I don't think she would ever marry. Her job is her life, and Zaeed is kinda like that.
Fanfiction for them would be, at least, interesting.

Does Zaeed smoke? Do we see him smoking at some point? He does advice Shepard not to, but I was thinking about drawing a picture of him smoking and suddenly realised he probably doesn't. O_o

Zaeed smokes cigars occasionally. You can see two cigars in ash-trays in his "quarters". But smoking can't kill him. I think he actually was there when that cash of explosives went up...

Yeah, but I think characters must have one defined, ongoing thread. Like an stablished place for their fans, or something. And this would be it.

It's hard to play Mass Effect 2 without Zaeed these days. I always choose Zaeed and Garrus.

I'm tired of this ****-footing around the subject of sex in games. It happens and it's awesome and we all do it and should enjoy it. Sex is a healthy aspect of relationships! Even if it's in space relationship with a sexy bounty hunter. u_u;

I think the reason I grew to like his character so much is that there is a lot more going on with him than what is presented.
When you first meet Zaeed on Omega he’s not too gently bringing in his latest bounty. At first encounter it seems like he’s kind of a heartless merc, just in it for the money, but when you start taking him on missions, his dialogue shows otherwise. A lot of good examples (the conversation in Ilium, Jack’s loyalty mission, Zaeed’s own loyalty mission) have already been stated in the thread.
At a quick glance he may look like a heartless bastard but I don’t think that’s the case. Plus, he’s just so damn sexy. If available, Zaeed would be my choice of LI for both Paragon and Renegade Shep.
