"I always guessed it would end something like this"

Is that what he says if he dies as the second fire team leader? I find all the final lines by various squadmates at that point both in character and very poignant. From Mordin's "tell them I held the line" to Tali's "keelah selai" to Jack's "I wasn't supposed to care."

It's a great moment that shows in the end every squadmate cared about the mission in the end.

I love Zaeed. He reminds me so much of all the old soldiers I know with their war stories. It doesn't matter if Shepard could trump Zaeed in the critical mission department, it's not about showing how badass he is, it's about telling some young whippersnapper stories about his life. Maybe Zaeed for all his one-man army mentality wants someone to remember him when he's gone.

Yep, I think he also adds in the whole "cut through shields" speak that all the squadmates say.  Even though the squadmates tend to say similar things throughout the whole game they did a good job of differentiating what they say on that part depending on the character.

Has anyone been able to trigger this conversation anywhere on Omega? I don't know if they cut it from the game or simply made it difficult to find.

BobbyTheI found that dialogue back when he was working on his various audio edits. As far as the people who frequent the Jack thread could figure, it's cut dialogue. No one has been able to trigger it.

Wish it had stayed in, though.

I asked that question over in the Jack thread one time.  I was told by one or two members that you can trigger it wandering around Omega.  I have not triggered it myself though.

I can't seem to find the exact location of the trigger. Weird.

Is it during a recruitment mission?

I remember that discussion on the Jack thread and I don't believe anyone ever found the trigger, thus concluding it had to have been cut from the game. Makes me wonder if the developers had been planning to have more of those spontaneous conversations between squadmates much like Garrus and Tali but cut it for... whatever lame reason I'm sure someone had.

I'll post this in the Jack thread and see if anyone knows.

Edit:  I suspect that it does not exist in the game.

Most likely were going to tie it into something but decided against it and cut it out.

They probably wanted to raise speculation and intrigue in regards to Jack's origins but probably thought it didn't really jive between the two characters and would have seemed rather "convenient"

Zaeed is one of the most badass squad members Shepard has ever had. Definately one of my top favorite ME universe characters. Doesn't matter that he didn't have full convos in ME2. His stories were awesome enough, and even comical if he tells you about the one with the Hanar :D

Honestly I wanted to put a bullet between his eyes when he kicked that alien in the face. I don't know if my feelings will change since I am only just met the fellow. But if they'd given me that option he wouldn't be on my space ship.

Everyone likes having Garrus on their ship yet no one seems to remember that Garrus regularly used force while he was a C-Sec agent.  He makes that extremely clear in the first game when he tells you how he "questioned" suspects during the Dr. Heart case.  Shepard can call him on it, if he/she desires, or can tell him that it's justified.

Give Zaeed some time.  You have to remember that isn't some random batarian just sitting around there - he's a criminal who lead Zaeed on a chase all over the Terminus Systems.  Bounty hunters aren't hired to bring in innocent people.

Holy crap. Didn't know that this thread was brought back 4 days ago!

QFT. I like Garrus as well, but still it isn't fair to judge Zaeed bad and Garrus good for almost the same thing.

Zaeed once shot at a Mercenary with a Concussive shot and told him to "sit down". That was awesome.

You can mod your game to let him use the Revenant. He's a scary SOB with that thing.. then again, he's scary anyways :D

Zaeed with sniper along with Kasumi make for a killer squad, just an FYI.

How do you mod the game? I have a PC version, and I've heard that there's some sort of editing program that allows you to make some changes. Is that the same thing? And do you happen to know what it's called and how I can get that?

I got frustrated by not being able to find instructions on how to give Zaeed the Revevant, so I tried & figured out how to do it and I'll share it here as he is cool with the Revenant :police::

1) Edit the ME2 Coalesced file (there are various methods, I used Mass Effect 2 Coalesced Editor v1.0.0.32 (B) which was quite easy at: http://social.biowar...m/project/1854/ instructions are there)
2) In Coalesced Editor, search for "SFXGame.SFXPlayerSquadLoadoutData" inside the "BIOGame" tab
3) Right click on any of the entires and select "Add Settings" -> "<New Single Setting>" and name it "HenchmenSpecialWeapons"
4) Type in the following text for that entry: "(WeaponclassName="SFXGameContent_Inventory.SFXWeapon_MachineGun",HenchmanclassName=SFXPawn_Zaeed,UnlockPlotName=Wpn_GrenadeLauncher)"
5) Select "Commands" -> "Rebuild Coalesced"
6) Start ME2 and select Revenant in Zaeed's Weapon Loadout Screen :o
I hope these instructions help those who want to have Zaeed the way he's meant to be played (just like his trailler with his Mad Machine Gun rage )
Zaeed should have the Revenant from the start as you get the Grenade Launcher in the 1st level! but you can change the unlock value to when you want Zaeed to have the Revenant.

I take no responsibility for any issues but as its a minor tweak it should be ok & I'd like to thank the Coalesced editor creator Iron Spine & various forum posts like this one from Horendus Malaih:

Ah Zaeed, I just realized how bad-ssed this character was.

If shepard told zaeed to go make a sandwich with grunt and jack, he'd
probably come back the only one alive

I just posted this in the engineer video selections thread but I had to post it here in the thread for the man himself:

Zaeed Masani FTW.

Start watching this at :40 seconds; you'll start to hear high pitched gunfire, a second later Zaeed crosses the screen, his Disruptor-powered Assault Rifle firing non-stop, he leaps over the cover Shepard's ducking behind, charging the enemy mercs, their deaths prompting his battle cry.  While contemplating regrouping, an enemy pyro appears, leading Zaeed to instead charge foward toward a closer piece of cover, waiting for the right moment, then stands up to unleash an electrified bulletstorm that not even the flames encircling around him could stop.  Merc dies, Zaeed lives.  Shepard then regroups with Zaeed.  End scene, at 1:08.

Image IPB

That is exactly how I saw that the first time I saw it.  I was watching this Shepard Engineer video, and then that sound of gunfire coming from just over his shoulder at just about :40, from that point on until 1:07 I didn't even see Shepard, lol.

{edit:} btw, i like how the forums word filter just blocked out a portion of that bioware employee's name in the quote

Lately I've been thinking that Zaeed is a lot like Shepard in that they are both really really hard to kill and have that "invincible main character" shield around them. I see Zaeed as a super Renegade who has no allegiances.

Zaeed is a bad**** character. One of my favorites. But I have a gut feeling that if you did the paragon path, letting vido escape, he will nt be a squadmate in ME3. He said he would go after him again the suicide mission. So I chose to kill Vido just for that reason.

OMG THAT IS EPIC!

"You just keep firing over my shoulder, Shepard, I'll crouch in front and blow these bastards to hell at close range."

I love having Zaeed and Garrus on my squad for the badassery. Zaeed is a psycho in combat, many times instead of advancing foreward like in that video, he'll drop back 20 feet and I can't even see where he's shooting from.

Anyways I don't know how DLC characters can return in ME3...hopefully you simply download them again like in ME2. We hired Zaeed for this impossible mission, but now we're going on to an even greater threat, we need him more than ever.

Noted fact: Originally, disposable heatsinks were deemed a silly game mechanic and did not completely replace the original overheat mechanic. However, devs put it in so that Zaeed could throw them at people for a bonus power.
