Everyone likes him and trusts him, but since the companions you're expecting to betray you don't (too bad, that would have been interesting), his uprightness and decency aren't worth as much as they should be.

And what's this biz about Jacob's romance being "like a porno" that I keep seeing people mention???

I thought he was boring.

He was like Kaidan, he could handle everything himself and he didn't really need you on an emotional level.

Sounds like a fun character to me - and he was a fun character. I could relate to him. Not every character has to need you to play psychologist.

I couldnt agree more.

I'd like to see him again, he's just so blah in this game.

This is part of the reason I didn't like him much. Also some of the comments he makes about some of the squad members you pick up make him seem like a bit of a jerk. Like when he tells Tali to take some time to say hi to the ship's AI.

I did like him more then Miranda at the beginging, but he was never all that interesting compared to everyone else.

I think the meeting with jacob was very well done. I also respected him from the start for levelling with me right away about what was going on.

You can tell he has alot of respect for Commander Shepard and doesn't have a problem recognizing his place in the chain of command, hence his salute. You can tell he is conflicted about leaving the alliance even though he feels he can get more done about the collector threat with Cerberus. I bet Jacob was very relieved to have Commander Shepard finally at the head of the mission because it helps him deal with not being Alliance any more.

He has a level head, stays cool, keeps focussed, shows respect, is not afraid to speak his mind, and has great powers. The voice acting for jacob is right on too.

I think Jacob is great. Easy going, straight up guy without a theatric sob story - I can relate to that any day. Nothing wrong with being relatively normal and well-adjusted. I kind of wish there were more of that around quite frankly.

Go Jacob.

I will say that the intro dialog for Femshep when speaking with Jacob is kind of cheesy sounding, but Jacob never sounds cheesy at all, so I can't blame him for that.

He looks a bit like a meathead, and some of his lines are stiff and unlikeable. I have a hard time liking him and think they could have done better with the acting and writing for him.

That said, Jacob is a trustable man to support a Para-Shep. He doesn't trust the Illusive Man, he respects Shepard and defers to his/her judgement. He is generally supportive and level-headed, and a competant soldier from start to finish. He's about as good of a moral sounding board as Kaiden ever was, I appreciate and respect his character and hope he's better written/animated in ME3, even if he's killed off horrifically in the intro or something. I think Jacob is vastly superior to Miranda, who i honestly can't stand. Miranda has a more touching loyalty mission i think, though the "Lord of the Flies meets Oedipus" aspect of Jacob's makes it resonate regardless.

Honestly I hate listening to jacob and looking at him (mostly it's the way his eyes are animated and the way his speech is delivered, both very stiff), but i DO like him.

Jacob was awesome. Best loyalty mission in the game, as well.

Jacob wasn't being a jerk, he was just being ignorant at worst. He doesn't necessarily know Tali's/Quarian's history with the geth.

Huh, I expected a lot more people to be complaining about Jacob, but it looks like he's got some fans. Maybe he was just being overshadowed by the more popular characters in Mass Effect all along.

I like Jacob's personality. Real straight-shooter from the get-go. Taking him on missions is another story. The guy is useless outside of casual/normal difficulty.

Agreed. Jacob is actually rather accepting and inclusive. He tries to encourage Tali to acclimate herself and she just simply is prejudiced against Cerberus when first dealing with him. He's naive and ignorante to her stance regarding AIs at first but this doesnt make him a JerkAss.

Also, he's not trusting of Thane but this is his experience as a career soldier speaking. I'm sure if Zaeed had a 'welcome aboard' convo he wouldnt trust him either. Generally Jacob tries to be the voice of reason/moderation between Shepard and Miranda, where Miranda is simply hardline TIM supporter. I hate Jack with all my heart but i have to agree with her when she calls Miranda "the cheerleader".

It's not that I dont like him, if it was RL he would be one of those people you always talk to if you see them, but they are never quite your friend. He's bland tbh, very bland.

He needs to laugh, or get angry. He has no emotion.

I thought the opposite of kaiden. I loved kaiden.

IA! Despite the fact that Kaidan didn't have a crazy tragic past with ~dramatic issues hounding him to this day~ for you to resolve (soooo refreshing after other BW male romance options!), he is still fun to talk to, and he's got his own option on things, which he doesn't hesitate to share with you, even to the point of disagreeing with you!

Jacob pretty much doesn't have tragic past issues to deal with either (well, until you get to his dad, obvs), but somehow still he seems so bland. Although I  did appreciate his frankness in telling me about Cerberus, I think he suffered from not giving you "options on the latest mission" beyond comments on newly acquired squadmates that might get interpreted as being rather snarky. It just seemed like he didn't have much new to say.

Jacob just didn’t really need you. Some would say they like that, but what I mean by this is I felt like I could fall off the face of the Earth and it would make no difference to our relationship. He was fine on his own, to the point that I sometimes felt unwelcome around him.

There was nothing to resolve within Jacob. And what interests me in a character is what is unresolved.

He's a really nice guy. I just don't like the way female Shepard talks to him.

He was military, showed some disciplin, spoke him mind and had my back.

With a squad such a composite of all kinds of crazy diversity, it was good to have a bloke like him on the team.

He's alright, just a bit bland. Something that I find most Biowares male leads to be. Alistair was an exception.
