Honestly, I don't mind Jacob, but I can't help but notice how awkward it is whenever I try to talk about him and my male Shepard just lays on the table and says "I'd like to get to know you better" or "I'm more interested in getting to know you", I mean I have no problem with gay people but dude, that's just not cool
Why is it "just not cool"? It really doesn't matter, you're kinda overreacting.

He's a good man, trustworthy, also deals with his past.
He just lacks complications.
And somehow I felt he's more of a brother in arms than a friend.
But that was the intention, I assume.

Jacob is awesome, he's my favourite new ME2 character. I like his backstory/opinions, and he's more realistic than other characters IMO.Birko19 wrote...

I'm not overreacting, I just think it's awkward.

So Jacob was great. Maybe BioWare should consider putting a black lady LI.

I really think jacob is boring as hell. He seems to be just another normal soldier thats serving on the SR-2. jacob's good-guy demeanour just makes him the last person i want to hold a conversation with on the SR-2.
^That's pretty much how I feel about him too. He's nice... but boring to talk to.

Like so many others have said I cannot stand how my FemShep talks to him. The first time I went through it I grimaced, it was that bad. I went back and reloaded. The romance scene? Awful. Just awful. It feels like nothing more than a booty call. It's alright that the game has a romance like that, sure, but it does absolutely nothing for me.
All that added to the fact that there are squadmates who do alot better in comabt and his constant, "Gravity is one mean mutha!" gives him a permanent spot camping out in the armory.

Also, pretty much all of the other characters overshadow him.

All of Shepard's social awkwardness and this is what you pick out?
"I fear that my son may follow me in a life of violence and killing."
"I'd like to talk about something else."
"I don't think I've ever been able to really trust another person, until you Shepard."
"I have to go."

I liked Jacob, too. I thought Jacob's character model, face and voice acting were done well. The only other African American NPC of note, Capt. Anderson, had an awesome voice actor but the face was like a deformed papaya. I guess Udina is also black but nobody cares about him.
So Jacob was great. Maybe BioWare should consider putting a black lady LI.
Sorry to spill the beans but Anderson isn't african american. If you read Revelations you would know that he is actually a Londoner but picked up the 'trade accent' due to working on alliance vessels for most of his life.

Yeah, the only complication he had was his past coming back to bite him in the butt and he handled that quite well himself.hawat333 wrote...

I felt he was more of a brother at arms with my Shepard as well. Though I get the same feeling with Garrus as well except we're more war buddies as well since we were working together in ME1 as well.

And you're an expert? No you're not, all of our feedback and reactions to Jacob are worth posting about so BioWare can get a feel for it for the next game and how they handle conversations, whether we all agree on it or not. So don't think you know better, you can't control how others see things and your reaction isn't the only perfect one there is.

I wish there were a dialogue choise to ask him: "Stop saluting me all the time, we're not in the alliance anymore".
I can't believe my renegade femShep actually stayed loyal, while my paragon maleShep cheated.

He should be a nice guy to hang around with as buds after a mission, but he's just plain and boring. Ended up hanging with my old buddy Garrus because he at least got some fun banter. Its a shame really, Jacob was the only really badly written squadmate in the game.
