I've been away for...a day. Maybe two. Now I'm seeing posts about um...the Quarians being space elves? And people are talking about it as if it's been a long running issue. But I've never heard of it before 10 minutes ago.
Where did this come from and what evidence has Bioware given to cause anyone to come to the conclusion that Quarians are...space elves....?
Confused. Help please.

There are a FEW pieces of Tali unmasked looking like a night elf, and so people of course FREAKED OUT. There are just as many pictures of unmasked Tali as a violet-eyed, gray-skinned human-like being.
It's just the Mass Effect forums being as tumultuous and ignorance-laden as usual.

But what caused them to be stupid? Where did they find this so called evidence? It just doesn't seem like random, arbitrary stupidity.

Wait, so Bioware has released official Tali Unmasked photos?

No they haven't, for whatever reason a lot of fans like to draw Quarians as being night elves... goes to show how unoriginal some of the talimance base are.

So...if these are fans drawing Tali as a night elf, why does anyone think it holds any validity? There's fans out there drawing all SORTS of things. Why does THIS get special attention? Also, Night Elfs are hot, so what's the problem?

By "lot of fans", they mean the one or two fans who found something elvish on deviant art.
These couple of fanarts were then blown totally out of proportion, and now apparantly everyone's making a big stink.
The whole thing is completely retarded.

Why have the "this isn't an RPG" arguments gained ground? Why are people suddenly missing the Mako when it was very widely hated? It's something to freak out about and decry over and over, using the same tired old rhetoric each time. People love freaking out on these forums, even if there is absolutely zero basis for their complaint.

It seems to just be one or maybe two people who seem to passionately hate the idea of 'space elves'. Yet aesthetically an elf is just a human with pointy ears, so I don't really get their point. Quarians don't even have ears.
What defines an elf is their long lifespan, wisdom, beauty and grace, and aptitude with magic or similar natural forces. The Mass Effect universe already has a race like that - the Asari. The Quarians as a people are nothing like the traditional elf.
So basically it boils down to a few people not wanting Quarians to look too human. Either that or they've played so much WoW that to them an elf is a Night Elf, with ridiculously large floppy ears and glowing eyes. So far I've seen one piece of fan art depicting Tali as a night elf. Is that what's caused this fuss?
