I've been getting down and dirty with nearly every aspect of module design, but modeling still terrifies me.  I know there have been some import issues with models, but I was wondering if anyone would be willing to take a stab at what I think is a simple modeling request.

The central antagonist in my module is the Horned One from Welsh mythology.  I'd like a helmet (preferably open-faced) with stag antlers on it (NWN had exactly this, without the open-face).  And since a horned helmet makes little sense if all the deer are without antlers, I'd also like to have some antlers added to the deer model (if I could get the white halla modified to have stag antlers, that would be a bonus!).

I would hope this would be an easy project, since none of the parts would need additional animation.  Could any modelers out there tell me what would be involved, and would any be willing to take a crack at it?

My module is making steady progress, and I feel fairly certain that your work and credit would see the light of day (though you should share it with everyone anyway.  I can't be the only one who wants antlers).

The problem is that even helmets have to be exported with a full body skeleton. Why Bioware chose to do that instead of just making the helmet a child of the head and inheriting all movement I don't know, but it makes helmet mods a pain with the current state of the export tools.

Couldn't it just be a matter of adding elements to an existing helmet? Is is necessary to rebuild a whole skeleton, or is it difficult to extract the existing models and skeletons from the data? Or does adding elements change the dynamic movement of the skeleton? This may be something I may try to learn myself, but I was hoping it could be a quick and easy job for someone with more experience modeling.

It would not be a hard thing to do if there was a skeleton rig available. In fact, if you export a helmet using tzpan's tools you should be able to get one. However, you would have to manually adjust the skin weights.
