ME for the sheer scale of it. ME2 for combat. I found ME2 so short and small compared to the first. Don't get me wrong i loved the game. Damn shame tho.
Did you like Mass Effect 1 or 2 better?

ME2 for gameplay. 1 for story.

ME2 is better imo. The minigames and ending failed in ME2 but overall I think it is a superior game.

Its a hard choice, but I have to say ME2, and only because I went back to ME1 recently to make a new save, and I kept feeling like I was missing something or that something just was not right with the combat.
Although i do miss wrecking things with Biotics on insanity in ME1 nothing like sigularity followed by warp, or lift + throw.

If anything ME2 can feel more 'polished' than its prequel, but for sheer gameplay ME1 hands down for me. I'm on my 2nd playthrough for ME2, 20 hours in, and its dragging like something rotten, ME1 flew by; even on my 6th.

Another thing that I think ME2 did better and something I don't really remember from ME1 was random exposition and backstory found around the place. Audiotapes, slates with text and stuff like that really adds to the atmosphere of a game and makes it feel less sterile. More of that please!
I also loved the push-to-execute paragon/renegade quicktime events.

I think ME2 as a whole is better.
I do like the story and characters in ME1 slightly better though.

ME 2 for gameplay. ME1 for story purpose. Though the characters in ME2 were way better.

ME2 is better than ME1 for sure. The better combat alone makes the game far more addictive, and the larger and more varied cast is sure a winner. It's actually tough to pick who to bring with me since they are so different. I used to just bring Garrus and Wrex EVERYWHERE with me.
I do miss the mako, but IK really actually enjoy the scanning, so my dream is for BioWare to keep scanning and bring back a better and more polished mako for ME3.

I liked the story, music, exploration, RPG elements, villains and ending more in ME1. ME2 had superior companions, combat, and graphics. I loved both, but I enjoyed ME1 more.

I liked Mass Effect combat more and it also had more memorable moments like Thorian, but overall. I loved Mass Effect 2 more.

I do honestly think that Mass Effect 1 just had such a powerful narrative and ,massive scale. Though ME2 was a much more polished and overall improved gaming experience, it just doesn't live up to the storytelling power of ME... in my opinion.

The pacing in Mass Effect 2 is a lot better. You actually feel like you're doing something, while in Mass Effect 1 the speed only gets kicked up a notch during the final sequences. Combat in Mass Effect 2 also feels a lot more intuitive, to me at least.
So, I have to say that I like Mass Effect 2 better. Maybe that's because I'm used to playing action games, but nevertheless, I think it's a vast improvement over the first.

1 is greater than -2.
ME1 emphatically; ME2 was utterly farcical -- no comparison.

Well, I think that Mass Effect 2 was more a Recruit- team members and in 3 I hope the real battles begin.

ME1 for story depth.
ME2 for gameplay and polish.
Exactly.... now, if they would just combine both for ME3......

ME1 has a more epic story.
ME2 has a more personal story and is more about your companions than fighting the big bad.
That's how it came across to me anyway, and I like them both.
