Mass Effect 2 for evoking emotional responses in a more convincing way.

Honestly i actually liked the planet exploration in ME1, they shouldn't have completely scrapped that IMO and i am hoping the yet-to-be-released hammerhead fixes this.

ME2 actually. I thought the characters were alot more compelling and despite the sudden proliferation of crates and boxes throughout the galaxy I enjoyed the missions alot more.

I had thought they'd improve it rather than remove it. It was somewhat fun..

Yeah..

Anyway to answer the question, I prefer ME2 overall. But it's not exactly leagues ahead.

It doesn't appear as if I can make a Poll here so:

1. ME1

2. ME2

3. Both equal.

4. Not sure.

I'm sure this thread may have been done before (can't find a search feature) if so please link me to it, I'm very curious to get the communities thoughts...

Well I must say while ME 2 is an improvement, I perfer ME 1.
Now if they could take the combat system, (minus the thermal clip reloading crap) and put it in ME 1 SO combat is much smoother, then M 1 woulda been as close to perfect as possible (specially if they clean the slow texture popins) Perhaps BW will pull there heads outta their bums, and realize going more to a shooter was a totally stupid idea, and they will go back and make it an rpg again with a great story and great gameplay for ME 3, instead of an Ok gameplay and mediocre story.

For me ME 2 is an improvement except one thing:

The skill system in ME 1 was by any account better.

Both have their pros and cons, but overall I'd have to give the nod to ME2 for the gameplay.

I just love the new combat, class abilities, squadmates, and improved difficulty settings (Insanity is a lot of fun as opposed to frustrating).

I was raped in ME1. Twice. I want to be able to refuse to get freaky with wierd blue aliens and some wierd nosed soldier, cuz those scenes were just disturbing. The Citadel was too big (THOSE FREAKING ELEVATORS!!), the story was nowhere near as good as you guys say (there are machines trying to kill us, there are bigger machines trying to kill us (HOLY ****)) but the Mako was cool. Hammerhead is 'sposed to replace it though.
ME1 had no real big decisions for me cuz Kaidan was annoying and the big ship thingy looked cool so I wanted to save it. Oh, there's that magical kickass bug which I'm obviously going to save cuz they tell you jack about how dangerous they're supposed to be.
ME2 was funny, fun and had a cool explosion at the end. ME1 was alright with crappy little explosions at the end. And some wierd robot bird thingy.

We should organize a road trip to the bioware head quarters so we can party in front of their building for making such awesome games, kinda like a woodstock for gamers type thing. Seriously as a capatalist I love seeing how much detail and hard work they put into their products.

I felt that the conclusion to ME1 was pretty dramatic my friend. Plus the Reapers were more than just big machines, they were big machines that had existed for millions of years cultivating galactic societies along their own guidelines than for reasons as yet unknown causing total genocide upon them. I like the mystery of the game and to me the writing is top notch. I wish Drew Karpyshyn would write more Mass Effect books also. These posts we write are simply opinions though so heres mine in a nutshell, the Mass Effect universe is a science fiction geeks wet dream.

Me1 was much better, the story in Me2 never progressed anyting, it feelt very meaningless and like it had no impact on the trilogy what so ever. The graphic was better in Me2 though.

As far as story, ME1 was way better
Character development ME 1 was way better
gameplay: ME1 was way better
GUI: ME1 was way better
Graphics: no contest ME2 is better

They chopped up what i liked about the game: the variety of characters that you can play have been trimmed.  Why have charac ter dewvelopemnt at all if you are going to make it like in ME2?  Just make the things you are killing steadily increasingly difficult.  Graphically and soundwise, the sequel is far better.  Its alot like the choice between Sega Genesis and Nitendo back in the day.  Nintendo was pretier but Sega Genesis had WAY better games.  I was a Sega Genesis guy...gameplay is more important than pretty

So, I favored ME1 in terms of story ,partly SquadMates(I just like the old squad a little bit more ) and the MAKO.
In terms of Gameplay ME2 is superior.

I really can not say, I like 1 or 2 more, so just try to see them together as a part of the triology, because both are excellent games/experiences, imo.

ME2

I made a poll, some time ago here:
http://social.biowar...596/polls/1670/

The majority says ME2

majority of  what? 140 people? and probably part of them never played the first ME.

I' m really sorry to say it but ME2 is a bad TPS and a bad RPG with a lame story who royaly mess up with how ended the first game.

I suppose that if I want a good tps I should stick with Army of Two or Gears of War and if I want a good (w)rpg I should stick with DA:O or Fallout 3.

And to think that Bioware co-founder Greg Zeschuk bashed jrpgs for being stagnant...

Smile and nod, smile and nod, this the normal "logic" DarthCain (doesnt that name scream 13 year old?) known for here.

So the guy has a point and you insult him, guess who is looking more like a 13 year old??

ROFLMAO!

What point, that his bias poll of 140 people had the result he gimicked to ensure returned?

Wow, doesnt take much to please some of you

You can't talk about bias, when the 120% of your post are completely and utterly pro bioware even when the original poster DO had a point, at least he had a poll and a valid opinion.
If anyone is questionable here, that's you mein freud.

Sure I can, watch this
Justatroll (thats you) is BIAS against Bioware and just comes here to troll the forums looking for the attention he cant even buy in the real world.
Darth Cain is a pro Bioware junky that count create a balanced arguement if his life depended on it and creates fake polls that no one cares about to try and back up his underinformed positions!

See,not only can I talk about Bias, I can use it in a balanced and realistic manner.

Listen Justatroll, I have no problem calling out Bioware on areas they have underproduced (such as ME2 and DLC), just like when they do good, I beleive they deserve credit and not false whiner (thats you again in case you missed it) shame. KotOR was a great game worthy credit. ME1 was the best RPG ever made and worthy credit, DA:O is the best fantasy RPG ever made and worthy credit.

See how this works?
The good stuff gets credit!
The bad stuff gets shame!

Maybe Darth Caine and you should try to add some balance to your lives Justatroll cause your really coming off as a whiner "Whaaaa, you liked something Bioware did!!! Im going to pout now".

Dont bother replying kid, this thread not about your insecurities and I appoligize to those not flaming and spamming (and making up crap that started all this...DARTH CAINE). Back to topic at hand.
BTW: My reply on topic is found on the first few pages, you wont find a on topic reply from Justatroll or DarthCaine
PS: Im not your freind, my freinds have finished not only jr high school, high school, and post secondary but. well they have real girl freinds and wives. Heck some have kids older then you. Sorry kid, you just dont fit any of the criteria (use a dictionary for meaning of last word)

Wow did I touch some nervers there or what :P

I love BioWare, I like what they bring to the game industry. I've played all BioWare games in the past, and when they do something great (Most of the TIME) I do give the praise they deserve.
But when they don't, I have enough of a setted personality with my own personal belief that alow me to give them some logical criticism, when Its due.
Ohh, and you can't call kid to anyone, just looking at the way you wrote that last message shows who's the kid here.
Peace out mate. Wish bioware could pay you for all the incontiional support you give them.
