How to stop squad members from changing ammo type?

When I have Zqeed on me team, he constantly spams squad disrupter ammo. How do you get him (and others) to stop? I have already turned powers off, however, that setting only stops your squadmates from using powers offensively. The description for that setting is that it still allows defensive powers and ammo powers. Wth?!

A bit hard to do since I already did. And I'm not gonna replay 2 missions. Not on insanity.

I take it either Shepard or your other squaddie has squad ammo? The AI will always try to put it's own ammo type on it's weapon. You can't even take two AI with the abilities, they'll just constantly be swapping ammo every time the cooldown is up

I even looked through the .ini to find some way to stop it, either by preventing them from activating ammo powers, or just preventing them from using a power, but no luck.

This seems like a prett huge design flaw, how could the devs not have seen this? It seems unlikely that with all that testing they would never have a squad with more than 1 suad ammo ability.

I would imagine it was a design decision. You know like with the "no toggle for helmets".
Bioware don't make mistake's, this is how they wanted it.

Squad ammo is annoying to the point of near uselessness.



I suspect that at one time squad ammo stacked, but then the devs decided that was to powerful so they "fixed" it... and by doing that introduced this.

I can't imagine they playtested this as it is now and found it working as desired.

Squad ammo depends on what class you are and what you plan your bonus power to be.

I used Squad Incendiary Ammo on Grunt while mainly playing with Miranda as an Engineer using Barrier as my bonus power and that works very well.  Because the was only one ammo power in the whole group.

Still, on my Insanity Run right now as a Sentinel with Warp Ammo, I dont plan on give out Squad Ammo powers.

Does your teammates use squad ammo constantly even if you switch your own ammo after they've used theirs?

What happens is I turn on squad incendiary and if someone in my squad also has squad ammo, they cast it and it overwrites the one I put up. They don't even look to see if it is helpful eg I am fighting armored enemys and Zaeed will still throw on disruptor squad ammo for no reason.

Oops, forgot to answer you question haha. Yes, they still activate squad ammo even if I have switched mine to something else.

lol get Grunt and Zaeed on the same team, Grunt with do squad inferno and then zaeed will do squad disruptor, back and forth



And if you turn squad powers off the ammo power use stays on

That's because you can't turn squad powers off. It's either 'use everything' or 'just use defensive and ammo skills'.



IMO, it's the only poor design choice (if it is a choice and not just something that slipped past QA, which is much more likely) in ME2. Sure there's decisions that not everyone likes, but at least there's good reasons for them and they actually enrich gameplay in one way or another.



Watching your squadmates have some sort of territorial pissing contest with their ammo powers is just bizarre.

Turn off the ability for your Squad to have minds and control their moves for them, it's easier than that once you get used to it.

My bad, the only time i played with anyone who had an ammo type was Jacobs mission.

And I've only played normal yet so it wasn't that big of a deal.

It's not even "squad" ammo that's the problem, it's ANY ammo type.  If you use your own squad ammo and another squadmate has a different ammo type, they will constantly turn on their own to overwrite yours, even if you have them set to defensive abilities only.

Oh hmm, I actually didn't realize it was "defensive and ammo" skills.  That's the problem.
