Not really. I've had several acquaintances that wouldn't try octopus based on how it looks. Sometimes how it smelled. When it comes to food, people tend to stick to their culture's comfort zone. At least if the food they're being offered looks exotic. If it's exotic and resembles something mundane, chances are higher they will try it. Octopus doesn't fit that criteria.

Shark, Snake, Frog, cockroach soup. Without any funny comments, every single one of them was quite unique and interesting to eat. Just... it's better not thinking what you're eating.
