First off, I could barely get it to install. Right out of the package the installer would fail time and time again claiming a form of corruption as if the disc were bad like a shoddy DVD-R. After some luck I finally got it to install, I've not been able to replicate this problem with other DVD/CDs in this drive, but 80% of the time the Mass Effect 2 disc 1 fails the installer.
Secondly its crash happy. Not too often, just enough to be annoying. Around ever 15-30 minutes. Mind you in preparation for porting my last character over, I had played 6 hours of ME1 without a single hitch. Also, in ME2, the crew quarters in the Normandy 2 are completely off limits. Right in the middle of the loading splash screen the game crashes like clockwork. I've not gotten in once.
This machine is not unstable (Memtest, Linxpack and a plethora of other games verified), and the drive is fully functioning. The only physical problem could be the DVDs the game came on. My question are could it be my drivers or the game itself. I have a Nvidia GTX 285 running 192.21.
Well, even if hardware related, any thoughts are appreciated. Just wanna get back into the game and not worry.
