Tali's Voice....(romance spoilers)

Quite aside from my view that Tali is the only remotely well-balanced chick on the ship, with the only romance conclusion and aftermath that is worthwhile, (-why- would 'Miranda's voice actress(?) need to 'spread' in real life? wouldn't they have the cgi character well and truly on file by that point? And the result is entirely uninteresting to boot), there is a bit in her 'love' scene, right before she seems to go 'aggressive', where the mask is removed...and her voice(which sounds mildly 'mechanized' to me) does not change. Granted it's only a word or two(unless, seeing how easily Shepard removed it, she had it loosened from before she came in) but still.
Any thoughts?

That was only the face plate, not the entire helmet, her voice was still going through the synthesizerElfseeker wrote...

robot sex. Uhh ohh tali lovers are in for treat!
That's hot. Now I only like her more. =p
I think the only word she says with the mask off is "feeling" before she jumps his bones. I don't recall it sounding mechanized, but I'll have to take a look again.
Speaking of voices in the Tali romance scene... does anyone think Shepard sounds like he's straight out of a cheesy porno when he says, "It's alright. Come here?"

That, and in my opinion the more likely answer, maybe Quarians normally sound like that. They seemed to the one of the more advanced races prior to the Morning War... maybe they can speak clearly through their "voice breather things," unlike the Volus.

I would think it was because her mouth was still against the breather. The top half of her face is the only part that is visible.
And wouldnt that be on the way of kissing? The breather however was attached to the faceplate. When Shepard removes the mask, it is clearly visible that he had the whole faceplate in his hands.

But for reals... the Hanar are the only remotely "alien" species. Everyone else is very humanoid. 2 arms, 2 legs, vocalize in frequencies the human ear can hear, communicate vocally in the first place, etc.

All of the aliens [excluding the Krogan, Vorcha and Volus] have some kind of "echoing" sound in their voice. Garrus and obviously Legion have the most noticable. If you listen closely, you notice the modification. I had to really tune in to hear it with Liara, though. Samara dosn't really have any "echo" in her voice oddly enough.
Yeah, but Turians still have an organic tone, or atleast thats what Bioware aimed at and it sounds like it. Quarians voice obviously go through a synth.

I would have much rather they shown us her face without a mask then work on changing her voice.

Does it really matter if it was a small detail that was missed? Tali was by far my favorite char in the game but this did not take away from the experience at all imo.

I'm pretty sure all the quarians were synthed. I imagine her voice is that way because her helmet is still. It actually sounds a little less synthed but because the breather is there it still produces the effect.Ender1221 wrote...
I can't remember, did Kal-Reegar's voice sound synthed as well?
On a side not, has anyone else heard Tali talk without an accent? Happened to me once. I know it was her because the subtitles said that it was. Was kind of wierd. Just one short line on a random planet somehwere.

I can answer this in two ways, both explaining why the species have similar traits.blank1 wrote...
Personally, I think it's retarded that all these aliens who evolved thousands of light years from us are all uber-humanoid. I hope she has a tentacle face.

First. Why would a species evolve into a form that is not better suited for higher level interaction and technology. It can be assumed that there are species that are not humanoid but their off hidden on some remote planet since they don't have the adaptive ability to utilize technology at a higher speed. Simply put, the humanoid form is thought of as better suited for space flight and therefore the only species you'll see tend to be those that evolved down that path.
Alternatively in the Mass Effect universe one could say that the Protheans intervened as they did with the Hanar and the Mars outpost, molding sentient species into the path they desired.

Probably just a goof.
It
definitely was a major disapointing goof. We spend the entire time
crafting this romance since the first game and right when we have the
honor of hearing her non filtered voice: "Oops! Sorry guys! Forgot about turning off the sound filter!"
LoL
It's
bad enough as it is that all the dialogue of the game was designed for you to be able to forge such a beautiful relationship with her, but then only to be let down by such a "goof" is most definitly heartbreaking. The events that occur then after still did not make up for that once in gaming history moment, in bed, with Tali.

All Shepard's "tender moments" are especially disturbing with renegade scarring and glowing eyes.
[edit] Crap...I didn't see someone had necro bumped this thread. Sorry for posting.

That was going to be my response. The reason they evolved like that could well be because the Prothean's wereAlternatively in the Mass Effect universe one could say that the Protheans intervened as they did with the Hanar and the Mars outpost, molding sentient species into the path they desired.
very humanoid. 2 arms, 2 legs, vocalize in frequencies the human ear can hear, communicate vocally in the first place, etc.
They could have molded most of the universe after them, leaving the occasional oddity such as the Hanar for the lulz.

Well, this is a Humanist game. All alien races have the same fears, worries, desires etc, as humans. They all have jobs to feed their families and so on. All alien females are referred to as woman. Species are referred to as races. If you don't like aliens that makes you a racist, apparently, instead of xenophobe. ME so reminds me of Star Trek for this reason alone. Too bloody human is what it is.
