It's feasible. Joker is a reallllllllllllly good helmsman. And now you have the expendable crew on the Normandy, and apparently enough assault rifles to arm all of them. Jacob goes through the vents and dies... Miranda leads the crew in the second fireteam while Shep solos it... rendevous at the pods, saving the colonists from Freedom's Progress. Send Hawthorne and Chakwas back with them... bring Miranda with you through the seekers... she fizzes and your imaginary second party member dies... leave the remnants of your still-expendable crew to hold the line... take Miranda with you to fight the Terminator... she gets hit by rubble and dies... get hoisted to safety on the Normandy by Ken or Gardner... fly away happily.

I was afraid to touch the O-4 Relay because I thought it would trigger a game over screen.



Which honestly, in retropect, is not a big deal.



Same reason I was afraid to run out of fuel initially.

The expression on TIM's face when he heard the news would have challenged Joker's response to "i enjoy the sight of humans on their knees" for the title of greatest in-game expression!

I created a Sheppard to see if that was possible, his name was Leroy Sheppard.

To be honest, I wish they would have LET you do it, and then just show you blowing up because you jump into the middle of a freaking black hole.

They probably didn't do it because they wanted to hide the (very pretty) area until the final mission.

But I agree, just charge in for fun. Heck, it's what I did as soon as I saw that Omega 4 relay the first time. (after some confusion since I thought it was hidden, like the Relay to Ilos was.)

Camera is focused on the Relay with all the broken ships floating near by. (camera is looking away from the collector base and the accretion disk)

The normandy jumps in.

The camera follows the ship for exactly 1 second,

Normandy slams into a giant piece of ship.

Insert epic explosion here.

This would have been very amusing. The reaper IFF was so you appeared in the small safe spot. They could have had it so you appear right next to a sun or black hole without showing much else. Then FAIL appears on your screen in gigantic red letters as the normandy is destroyed

I could live with the Omega-4 relay being unusable in the beginning, but not being able to recruit Conrad Verner - no!
