I am imported a lvl 30 soldier for my Insanity play through.
I kept getting smoked at the very first fight in Freedoms Progress lol
1) I wasnt paying any attention when I put points into skills lol
2) I was expecting it to be like Mass Effect 1's Insanity IE easy
It was definitly an up hill battle until Horizon. Once that was done I could re-distribute my skills and from that point on the game was simple.
I stuck with Revanent with Heavy Disruptor and Inferno Ammo, I tore things apart, Barriers, Sheilds, Armor, Health would go down in seconds

^^ I agree. Heavy Reave is also a good bonus skill for Soldier Insanity, as is Dominate.

Question really is, Will beating the game on Insanity with a lvl 30 net you better starting bonus in ME3 than just beating it with a lvl 30?

It's impossible for others to figure out what way to play the game is better for you.

You've already played a good chunk of the game on New Game + (importing a level 28 ME2 character), so you know how hard it is. As you have seen from the rest of the thread, starting a brand new character is easier.
You have everything you need to make a choice.

I'm half way threw Insane on my LvL 30 Import Vanguard.
Currently finishing some of the Loyalty quest then heading to get the IFF.
Yes, its a pain as a Vanguard but you really need to make sure you have right SM for each mission plus cant go charging like a mad man like on Casual or Normal mode.
But I'm liking the challenge though,

I actually suggest going with importing the level 30 and playing. The Widow is invaluable on Insane and I breezed through Insanity with my level 30 Infiltrator import.
