Well, if the dialogues are good, I would not mind spending few extra seconds and it could be skipable for those who dont care about such things and just wish to rush through the game.nicodeemus327 wrote...
Not really. I have a pretty nice system with next to no loading times (2-3 seconds at most). That's nowhere near enough to add good banter. Really they just need to add more banter points in the game with a wider selection of characters.uzivatel wrote...
Elevators are better than loading screens as long as loading times do not suffer (too much).
There are few areas where even slow moving elevators are better option (Dantius Towers).

That's what those dialog points you see shattered through the world are for (Ie when Miranda calls Omega a ****** hole). They just need more of them for more characters. I think the concept is solid.

10 second and less loading screen > 20 second + elevator

Think its a logistics concern. You have 12 squadmates. 12^12=144 seperate sets of dialogue.
That would take like 2-3 additional hours, which is no doubt how long it took to make the loading screens

I liked the elivators in ME1, and I actualy liked the Mako, so I ****
So you are a fan of dog turds, too? Doing the dishes? Going mini golfing with your mother in law? Poking your eye out with a pencil.
Those are the types of activities that fit in the same category as bouncing around in the MAKO or growing a beard in the elevator.

Most of the time those are just monologues and even the few dialogues only discuss the thing you just clicked at. Its more like the stuff team told you when clicked at them in ME1 or those automatic lines when entering places like Choras Den.nicodeemus327 wrote...

The elevator chat was more random and always (?) dialogues. In the end, it told us more about the characters and their relations.

My ME2 would sometimes load 10-15 seconds on average sure, but there are parts that once loaded are so fast that I don't even notice the loading screen. Ex. sometimes going to the Captain's Quarters only takes a second or less on my PC to load. Had this been the old elevator system I'd have wasted about 3-5 seconds more on the transition despite the level having been loaded already, just to travel a deck up.
Besides, even ME1 had loading screens in the form of the Rapid Transit System, where they show a view of the Citadel, and even the Normandy at FTL with a big blue trail of energy loading screen whenever you travel from one system to another or before you land the Mako on a planet.
And elevators and squad banter is not mutually exclusive. You could still have squad banter and not have the elevators, like with the Garrus/Tali conversation on the Citadel, or when you and your squad enter the Weyrloc Camp in Tuchanka.

An interactive loading screen would have been cool, so kinda like it is now with the holographic display but you can click on different parts and get info about areas not in the game or stats/info on the area you are going to? like a mini in game codex page or something with tidbits you can click on. Probs not really necessary when loading isnt overly long but would have been a nice touch i think.

Randomly started conversation are not the best solution either - I went through KotOR two times without seeing some dialogues while sometimes characters started talking at the worst possible moment.zippie151 wrote...
that's true, so why couldn't you have a system like that of Dragon Age where party members randomly had conversations?

I think the dialog points worked great (ie click on that spot on omega where miranda calls the place a ****** hole). They just need more of them. In fact I really like them. They are a nice little bonus for bringing different characters and for exploring the world.

I for one do not miss the elevators.
though i do miss the squadmates banter.
+1.
The elevators were a horrible way to do banter. I'm not saying I liked the way they did it in ME2, but stainding still for 30-45 secs and getting repetetive banter, and more ususlly equally repetive (and frequently obsolete) news blurbs didn't help my immersion at all. It bored me to tears.
