I am not saying they should cut those of course. Its nice to hear opinions about things and locations...nicodeemus327 wrote...
I think the dialog points worked great (ie click on that spot on omega where miranda calls the place a ****** hole). They just need more of them. In fact I really like them. They are a nice little bonus for bringing different characters and for exploring the world.

It's just funny how that was the main gripe ppl had with the first game.
"Ommagods, them elevators are moving too slowly, it's no fun! In the future they would've invented faster elevators!"
Just about any teenage hyperactive **** would complain about it. Bioware actually listens and cuts it, and you ppl keep crying.
For the love of god...

In the first game you could travel from inside the Normandy down the dock, through c sec, through the wards, through the Presidium and, up to the council chambers and all the way back without ever seeing a load screen and, it created the illusion of one big connected area. Shepard and crew were never off screen.
On The main mission planets like Feros it was even more impressive. Land at the dock, fight, visit colony, fight, search lower levels, fight, jump in the mako drive to ExoGeni, run down some Geth, get out, fight fight fight, come back ,fight inside the colony, go down kill the Thorian and leave. No loading screens, the appearance one big area and, combat could take place anywhere not just in special areas that you can't revisit. Same thing for Noveria.
If only to bring back the illusion of connection and scale they should bring back all these little tricks that hid the loading of different areas.
If I remember correctly "No loading screens." was a selling point when the game first came out.

I'd like to keep a loading screen rather than 'decontamination in progress' when entering the Normandy.
A complete removal of 'mission summaries' that make ME2 feel more like a level-based shooter than an action RPG and a mix of elevators for immersion and crew talk and appropriate loading screens with progression status (DA:O would be a good example) would do the trick. Variety ftw.

Forums 2 years ago: WTF Bioware!!! ZOMG these fargin elevators SUX! You ruined the game - I'm never buyin another Bioware game EVA!!!!
Boy, people have short memories.....
I'd probably punch in the face to those stupid shooter fans
Elevators were amazing, it gave the game seamless flow wich ME2 DO NOT HAVE...
The inmersion in the first game is unmatched, there no other game this generation which gave this kind of feeling.

I know I'll get flak for saying this but Oblivion was by far MUCH more seemless than Mass Effect.

I also didn't like that the AirLock wasn't functional as it was in ME1.
Why have an AirLock if you can't walk out of it or back into it when you are docked at a station?
I feel like this was another element of total immersion that was lost.

Think its a logistics concern. You have 12 squadmates. 12^12=144 seperate sets of dialogue.
Twelve people taken in pairs is C(12,2) =
12! / 2! (12 - 2)! = 66 unique conversations.

As i've said in other posts, the flow and continuity of the game has gone out of the window.
In ME1 I could move from location to location and it was almost seamless thanks to the close together locations and the elevators. I also really miss being able to exit through the airlock as though I was actually doing it.
In ME2, the loading screens and the way we seem to teleport between randomly placed locations just makes the game dis-jointed and breaks immersion.
ME1 = Normandy - airlock - loading screen - airlock - walkway - docking bay - elevator - CSec - elevator - presidium
ME2 = Normandy - loading screen - middle of nowhere
At the very least, they could allow us to exit the Normandy and walk to/get into one of the taxis. Hell they show us getting out of them so the animation and the models exist so why not use them to add a bit more flow and immersion..

I can understand why some people are annoyed about the exclusion of the elavators from the first game. Personally. I don't really mind, but I can see where people are coming from, the worlds in Mass Effect 2 do not seem as seamless as ME1. To me a loading screen is a loading screen, wether it is in the form of an elavator or an actuel screen. Either way we still have to wait. Though I do miss the squad chatter and of course the catchy elavator music! Though I see this issue as being quite minor. However hopefully for the third game Bioware will take these complaints on board and go back to using the first games method. But for me, I don't really care either way.
dude.... i cannot tell you how many of my friends who watch me play made fun of the first one.
Mass Effect A.K.A. Elevator : the game.
like seriously on Noveria at the science facility
corridor --> long elevator ride --> left turn --> small room --> elevator --> next room
just keep hitting those elevator rides.

**gasp**
That and they are only a ten seconds tops compared to the minute some elevator rides took.

Agreed. They reminded you that your actions had an impact on the world. I can't wait for my Corsair SSD to arrive. I highly doubt I will be seeing those loading screen anymore.Tyfreaky wrote...
The only thing i liked about the elevators was the commentary. I like the current loading screens better since they actually have something to do with the mission your own!
