Ok so this one is driving me crazy. I have an arcane warrior, he's level 11 and I just got the 2 handed version of starfang. I had been using sword and board with spellweaver up to this point and I equipped Starfang out of curiousity (It's final home is going to be Ohgren) only to be surprised that my damage tooltip barely moved.
With starfang equipped my damage tooltip reads: 44.3
With spellweaver/shield the damage tooltip reads: 43.8
How is a 1 hander that close to a 2 hander in damage? Does the +MAG (which translates to damage on an AW) really make up that much?

Yes, it really does. I'm assuming the tooltips add all sources of damage together, but that sounds correct.
Spellweaver is 10.50 + 5 Magic (your damage stat) + 3 Electrical damage = 18.50.
Starfang is just 18.70 for an AW.
I'm sure there is a bit more to it than that for the rest of the difference, but specialized weapons do tend to do more. Starfang is the best weapon if you are going to use it in any random situation. There are a lot of specialized weapons that outdamage it when used correctly.
