The data backs up Deltaboy's suspicions, actually:

Miranda's average score- everyone (n=606): 7.19
Miranda's average score- everyone BUT Miranda Fans (n= 543): 6.89
Miranda's average score - Talimancers (n=134): 6.34
Tali's average score (everyone; n=606): 7.93
Tali's average score- everyone BUT Talimancers (n=472): 7.39
Tali's average score - Miranda Fans (n=63): 6.06

It appears that there is a very strange but nevertheless perceptible undercurrent of fanboy(or girl)ism at work here

Man, I'm the 'Miranda guy' here, and I've not accussed the Talfans of anything, and you gotta throw this out...roflmao.

Just took the survey. Is there a way to see the results in a more compiled form as opposed to the spreadsheet table linked on the first page?

It's kind of fun to see how everyone voted, though. Mordin's numbers are ridiculous. Ridiculously awesome, that is! xD

Really now, am I being offered candy? Mommy told me not to accept gifts from strangers.

I honestly don't know why an idiot like you is allowed to be a pedophile. Seriously, I just underlined the burn as X55 was in fact, RIGHT.

And I am 18, don't worry..my hormones are not in control of me. And I might as well ask your age and the cap your sentences, makes you look older on the 'net. Thank you, NEXT.

you really think what you just said was effective or actually accomplished something. Lastly 18 says a lot, but your response tells me your younger. Don't worry the age I was speaking of didn't have anything to do with numbers, in fact it had EVERYTHING to do with upstairs, your mentality and ability to maintain self control over your mouth. YOu failed the test buddy. Good luck with that age/brain ratio

I think I'll just take the less sinister explanation that Miranda and Tali appeal to different audiences, and if you like one, you're less likely to find the other as interesting or compelling.

See I told you, and everyone was ready to paint me a fanboy. That's why I say Talimancers are funny, they have the numbers as far as fans, but not the brains. Not even close. Thanks Finnegone!

I'd say Miranda's fanbase is funnier than Tali's, really - they're like Red Sox fans (pre-2004)

ROFLMAO, I used to live in Boston, and this is exactly how I think of it...with Tali's fanbase as the Yankees, of course....

First of all, asking a question and already trying to deny that question with your so-called tests and whatever analystic skills you supposingly have is utter bull****. Accept it or just get out of here, I am telling the truth and nothing but the truth. And the lack of self-control? How am I lacking that one?

I haven't even cussed or tried to flame your ass with the usual  'OMFG **** GTFO YOU NOOB'. No, I was using heavy sarcasm that SHOULD be obvious somewhat, but I cannot help that your inferior mind is already rejecting everything I am uttering. This really proves that my mental state is in fact, quite normal. Basing yourself on one post is not enough.

I just ran through the numbers for statistical significance and these are the results:

Percentage of people who voted for Tali giving a score of 3 or less to Ashley: 12.72%

Percentage of a random sample of people who gave a score of 3 or less to Ashley: 15.4%

Percentage of another random sample of people who gave a score of 3 or less to Ashley: 16.9%

According to the Two-proportion z-test, there is no statistical significance between these percentages.

THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY WHATSOEVER. THE NUMBERS SUPPORT IT!

no, I looked myself, and we must be looking at different things. and last I checked those percentages are significant. Which means 1 out of every 9-10 people (er Tali fans) are skewing results. You tell me that isn't significant if your calculations are right.

Deltaboy, do some real math instead of staring at the numbers in hopes that your eyes alone can discern the truth.

If you can prove me wrong while also using the two-proportion z-test, then by all means, try.

If that was a lame attempt at a joke, then I'll indulge you...haha...ha.....h....mmmkay. anyway. math is actually what I'm doing, your using the easy way out, uh...yeah was it SPSS???

So when speaking of math, do try doing some yourself before accusing another of NOT using it. Either way, I see you yourself are not hiding anymore. I see you quite often in the Tali thread , but I won't go there....nevermind, so it comes as no surprise that you have picked up your weapon now.

Anyway, I'm gonna let this go, because I think enough people see the truth, which was my only objective. Se laters, and good luck with the Talimance self esteem issues. good luck with her romantic return in ME3 too. It's funny how this has been playing out... to everyone else, just keep an eye out for your local Talimancer, they can get rather vicious and tenacious at trying to "make" her return at all costs, even if that means bashing your favorite character. Oh noooes, no one can like anyone other than TALI11!!!11!!

OMG I'm outta here. have fun.

I don't whether to laugh or cry.

And I actually did the two-proportion z-test by hand. Want to know my confidence interval? It was 95%. Want to know the z-score? It was 0.041. I bet you don't even know what that means.

And you claimed you were a finance major in college... Yeah, right.

Don't worry, embarressing myself on the internet is hardly what I call significant as it by no means is going to affect me. If you can see the inverted comma's, it shows that was an example of what I could have done, making it bold and trying to use that against me is once more showing your reading skills.

And I accept the fact I said "ass", For the rest, you hardly responded to the rest of the post. Thank you.

In the matter of Tali v Legion.......I can only agree with Admiral Zaal'Koris on the subject of the geth attacking Quarians..."Of course they did, we tried to kill them"

I agree with this completely the Quarians was in the wrong for trying to destroy their entire species, heck I'll go as far as saying the Quarians got what they deserved for two reasons:

1. They created AI's despite the Council being against it. That makes them deserve what they got in a nutshell.

2. Realizing their mistake, they decided to exterminate an entire race of Synthetics that THEY created illegally instead of just giving them their freedom if they began to rebel.

Indeed. I personally found Tali more compelling than Miranda. On my books, Tali gets a 9. Miranda, a 7. That pattern is likely replicated with most people, one way or the other.

Ohh so your true colors are coming out too eh? you guys are comming out of the crevices and corners aren't ya?

anyway, for you to attack my math skills and my ability to understand what a z-score is.

I'll indulge you:

actual definition:
A statistical measure (simply put)

My definition (laymans term) :
A z-score is a method use to measure data, by basically telling how a single data point compares to normal data.

I figure I needed to add that ^ before my next statement.

Yeah, I am actually 1 year away from my masters, so consider this a courtesy that I indulged you little undergrad, since we're throwing around insults.

good luck with your "z-score11!!!11" just because you know what it means doesn't mean you used it properly you newborn.

Oh yeah and take some classes on insults and take an extra class on originality while you're at it.

Lastly, to your vert first statement, you might as well laugh, this thread is full of funny. I'm laughing, so join me.

I -think- I gave Tali and Miranda the same score (an 8?). I liked them both a lot and I didn't want to mull over 'Does she REALLY deserve a nine? Well, so-and-so got a nine, so... But, then if you think about the low numbers I gave some of my dislikes, I should probably even it out, and...'... Too much thought! >_> <_<

As for the Tali vs. Legion thing, personally I might agree with Legion, but my Shepard picked Tali it's a simple fact of 'I kill a lot of geth and Tali is my best friend, so at this point I have more trust for the quarians', so I went with Tali.

I think I went with Tali, too, just because I felt like she had a little bit of a moral high ground in this instance.

Was really glad I could Paragon that, though. I can't help but see almost every RL ethnic conflict in the Quarian-Geth situation. You hurt me, so I'll hurt you, then you hurt me back, and the cycle of violence never ends. (Doesn't Thane have a cool line like that if you fail his mission? "Entropy wins. Entropy always wins," or something?)
