Are ya talking about Dynamic Text? The Userbar Designer (Link in 1st Post of this Thread, i'm lazy.) has such features, but I never learned how to use them.--Master of All-- wrote...
Can you do some type of scrolling news ticker, message board thing? I'm being as vague as possible on purpose.

Something along the lines of this image, except with text scrolling to the left.
(Here, it's showing the first part of 'NON-AFFILIATED FACTION')

I just quickly sketched this up in Paint so I could be a little bit more clear on what I'm describing:

Is there anyway I could do some sort of 'flip book'? Like, if I manually drew each image and then

That's looking pretty good. I'd still like to get the true 'news ticker look', though. Maybe if I made a really 'long' image and had it scroll by in such a way that the 'diodes' always appear to remain stationary? Would that work?
lets test something

With my tests it would appear as if the forum wont let you have a background image--Master of All-- wrote...
I think I have a solution. What if the scrolling animation was over-lain on top of a stationary image of gray 'diodes', and the only part that actually scrolled by were the lit up 'diodes' of the letters? Would that be possible?

Here's the full image, anyways, much shrunken:

Edit: I think I'm going make it a full-size gif, but it'll probably take a week or more to get it looking good.

As everyone's noticed, i've practiced Animated GIFs. It sounds like this is what you'll need. For this task, I think what ya wanna do is to make a Master Template, which will be a Pic with your Background, (your choice of colored or Transparent) your 'lights' (I assume you're wanting the lights to look like LEDs?) in a dim coloring that'll look like an 'Off' setting. Save this 'Master Template'.--Master of All-- wrote...
I guess I'll try it as a gif, then. What's a good site to host it on?
Here's the full image, anyways, much shrunken:
../../../uploads_user/237000/236968/31967.jpg
Edit: I think I'm going make it a full-size gif, but it'll probably take a week or more to get it looking good.
Next, you'll wanna load copies of the Master Template into Paint.Net replace the appropriate 'Off' setting 'Lights' with 'On' setting 'Lights' by recoloring the appropriate 'Lights' into a bright colored equivalent of the dim color. When done, save this as a New File via 'Save As...', name it something memory-aiding, like perhaps 'Scroll GIF Frame001' or such. (Buggers on JPG or JPEG, seriously consider saving as PNG.)
Open up another Copy of the Master Template, (Gotta love Paint.NET's Tabs!
When ya have all of the 'Frames' done from Paint.Net, open up GIMP, set your 1st Frame-Pic into it. (I recommend doing this via Dragging it from your Save File, likely your 'My Pictures' Folder, hovering it over your GIMP Taskbar Button, hold a moment it'll make the GIMP Program 'Maximize' front center, then finish dragging your Pic into it's work window release to Drop it in.) When ya stick Pics into GIMP this way, it automatically sticks the Pic into it's own Layer. This is want you want. Each Frame of an Animated GIF-to-be has to be on it's own Layer. Anyway, drag-n-drop each 'Frame' of your work into GIMP in the desired Animation Sequence. (ie Frame 1 = Layer 1, Frame 2 = Layer 2, etc.) When done, go to the top menu of GIMP click Filter - Animation - Playback. This'll give ya a Preview Window for Animation for what ya currently got. 'Play' this Preview attempt to determine if your work is coming along, if it's done, or needs tweaking. Let's assume it's done. Now File - Save As... in the next window, Give this Final File it's name, at the end of the name add the extension .GIF in lowercase letters. (I have no idea if File Extensions even care about Capitalizations or not, but lowercase letters are lazier typing.
It's always worth it to be better safe then sorry to not yet close your GIMP or it's work just yet, go to your new Save File, Open it in the Windows Picture Fax Viewer via either Right-Click - Preview, or Right-Click - Open With - Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, see if your new Animated GIF came out right & looks good. If it doesn't, then it's a good thing ya haven't kicked your work outta GIMP, eh? Ya can modify & resave again now. If it does look finished, Upload it to a Web Pic-Hosting Site, then show it off here!
Hope I helped. & hope I didn't sound too ranty.
