Many are the people who go all psycho-geek over interspecies intercourse. I find it highly amusing since Sci-Fi and indeed fantasy itself has had interspecies intercourse since it's inception. Many will be the fools who try to argue some true in real life thing, like we can't mate with primates, but none of them are willing to surrender themselves to the one inevitable truth: This is sci-fi and if the developers want it to happen it will.
If intercourse with other species weren't the least bit fascinating how would we get things like half-elves, half-orcs, etc... in fantasy? Or in shows like Farscape where Dargo fathered a half Sebastian son, need I even name all the half-breeds possible in Star Trek or Star Wars? People act like this is some brand-new completely original idea we are tossing around here. This idea has been present long before Captain James T. Kirk started fornicating with every species he ever laid eyes on. It doesn't need to be possible in our reality to be done in Sci-Fi, that isn't our reality, it isn't even close.
My only problem with this is that it violates the internal (and external) consistency of Mass Effect. Almost everything, baring the Mass Effect and element zero is based on our current conception and projection of science. To make a hybrid child would break the unity that the ME story has going for it.
Would I [perjorative term for intercorse] an alien? Yes, yes I would. I would hit it so hard that who ever pulled it out would become the next king of England.
Also, there will be more than enough people [read: humans] left in the universe that if even 5% engage interspecies sex, then that leaves 95% left for reproduction. More than enough genetic diversity to carry on the human race. And yes, I realize that this is a 'Tragedy of the Commons' moment but it's so worth it.
