Yeah, so I just bought Mass Effect 2 last night and my 360 says that disc 1 is unreadable. Just for the hell of it, I put disc 2 in and what do ya know, loaded just fine. So I let my 360 rest overnight and just now tried it again, still no dice. I know there is no way to tell without looking closely at both the disc and my 360, but from the information I have given does it sound like this is this a problem that lies with my xbox or did I get a defective disc?
Disc unreadable error...RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!

It sounds like you got a defective disc since the second one works fine. Unfortunately most stores won't take the game back once its opened, at least Gamestop won't. You could try calling Bioware/EA cust service to see what they can do for you.

Probably a faulty disc.
You should return it to the store for a replacement.
Most shops will exchange faulty goods if returned quickly. In the UK they do anyway.

Ha. Great. Funny thing, it turns out that what i had was the beginning of what's known as the the "open tray" problem. My 360 is way out of warranty, so I think I'll just have someone more knowledgeable than myself crack it open and take a look. Thanks for your suggestions, though, folks.
