I played 2 entire playthroughs without a single problem. For the last 2 days I tried everything to run the game. When I went to the "press any button to continue" screen the game would turn to a black screen and crash. I updated my drivers, deleted dlc, uninstalled and reinstalled the game 2 times, and did every other possible thing I could.

I found a way to fix this startup crash. Go to your documents folder that contains the save game data for Bioware. There is a corrupted save that is causing the game to crash at the "press any button to continue screen." Unfortunately there is no way to tell what save file is causing the game to crash. I went into my 2 character save folders and deleted all the saves except for my most recent ones and the game runs fine with no problems. You can always try trial and error to determine which saves are corrupted but keeping only the most recent quicksave and regular save should hopefully fix the problem.

This bug frustrated me a lot after being able to play the game for over a hundred hours and then not even being able to load it. i hope this helps at least a few of you fix the problem!

tested again by adding the old save files and trying to run game and it crashed. Removed the old save files and it works fine.

You weren't already at the limit of 50 saves, were you?

No I had 23 saves total adding up both character files.

I uninstalled mass effect 2 and tried to install it on another drive . it loads 70% from disk 1 and then i get an error message stating missing file or disk removed. install failed. any one else having this problem.

i press the play button on the menu thing it automatcly crashes i have checked specs i have the reso changed i have tried everything i kno of someone help please

found the problem small scratch on disk, resurfaced wors fine
