It hasn't been said as much, and certainly not a thousand times, so maybe that's why not many seem to notice it, but you don't need to strip away defenses before using biotics either. They're just not as effective when compared to the defense's actual counter. You can use the pistol against shields, but it won't be as effective as the SMG. You can use SMGs against armor, but it won't be as effective as the pistol.

Im impressed as can be.

I'm curious, did you use that team throughout the game or just on the final boss? I know it'd have missing holes for Gethies.

Kudos :D

I find it rather ridiculous that people are claiming that using your squad is bad. I'll speak from my experience as an Infiltrator on Insanity: Having your squad alive is vital. Sure, you can do a lot of damage with Clock+Snipe, but either melee enemies will rush you down between cloaks or ranged enemies will stay hidden behind cover when you cloak unless you have a squad helping you out. Also, you have very poor options against Barriers, so bringing teammates to help with them is very useful.

BTW, nice video. I really need to take an Adept through insanity now.

Honestly, no.
I actually never used this combination. I was just attempting to show that biotics rock, and I thought using a full biotic group would best showcase that.

I used the best people for the job really, and being adept, specc'd them with the squad ammos so that I have pretty much every option. I have all ammo types at my disposal etc without being soldier or some-such.

Like for geth, I used mainly Zaeed for disruptor ammo and rotated the 3rd depending on level.

Something a lot of people don't understand I don't think is that in insanity mode, you use EVERYTHING. You need everything you can to survive. Adepts using guns is pretty common. I could do it with just biotics, but it takes eons. Same for classes like soldier not bringing squadies that fill their holes, or using their extra skill to take yet another ammo skill etc.

Part 2 is uploading ;)

Nothing is wrong with using your squad as an Adept. But theres nothing stopping you from using your squad with other classes, is there? And the majority of powers used in the vid were warp/reave. So it didn't show anything we didn't already know.

everything.

All argument aside, biotics regardless of WHO is using them, steamroll anything.

Sorry, but biotics don't steamroll everything otherwise you would not be constantly shooting. There was really little reason for you not to finish off what you shot with more shots or another warp/reave. All you did was demonstrate how strong weapons and ammo are conpared to biotics and the necessity of warp/reave spam.

Oh, where do you get that warp ammo is a biotic power? The official list of biotics is as follows (see the sticky):

Throw
Singularity
Warp
Shockwave
Slam
Reave
Barrier
Biotic Charge
Dominate

I am not arguing you anymore.
I will not succumb.

I simply do not care. I have stated earlier why every class regardless of anything needs to shoot, use skills, use their squad, because you need everything as they have so much hp etc everything is needed in insanity... I don't care. If you think what you think, whatever. Your side outright refuses anything presented, regardless of what that presentation is. I am not arguing you this. Hate the game, the mechanics, the biotics, the soldiers, infiltrators, vanguards, everything. I don't care.

Biotics rock.

Seems like Graunt and Grumpy Old Wizard are mainly in this for the whining and moaning. I still don't understand why those that hate the game mechanics on insanity insist on playing on higher difficulties. This is a single player game. If you want biotics to affect everything and never touch your gun, do it on normal or causal. Every class has some special ability that they use over and over and over. Thats the skill that sets them apart from the other classes usually.

Cloak, Charge, Drone, Tech Armor, Adrenaline rush, Singularity. Might as well really call the classes by those names.

I don't know about you, but when I play on insanity regardless of my class, I have someone in my squad that can remove defenses, be that shields, barriers or armor. Especially if I cannot do it myself, and even if I could do it, sometimes it pays to have your team do it so you can use your class ability instead. All this harping on about how useless it is to be able to kill/contorl something thats down to its health without firing a shot is pure nonsense. An enemy that is down to health can just as easily kill you as one that has full defenses up.

No weapon is given 50% damage to health, but several weapons get that to armor or shields/barriers. For the vast majority of enemies it's faster to strip an enemy of it's defense then it is to take away it's health, and it's more efficient to kill them with powers to save ammo and exposure to enemy fire. As long as you use the correct tool for the job.

I know that nothing of what I write here will have any impact on the two of you what so ever, but I felt like writing it anyway.

People get so strung up over these kinds of topics. I've played through as an Adept and a Vanguard, and seen my brother head through as Sentinel and an Infiltrator, and none of them seemed any better or worse than the rest. Adept is my favourite simply because it's the most fun, and advanced weapon training allows me to be a bastard thrower and Sniper at the same time.

If this was a competitive MP game, I'd understand the nitpicking. But it's not. >_>

This all said, if Adept fulfilled the role of being a pure Biotic that never needed to use weapons, it'd be pure awesome.

TBH, on Insanity I never cared about my squad mates, I just killed everything myself lol. Adrenaline Rush really tones down the "difficulty" of Insanity... everyone moves and shoots slow, and you get a 100% damage boost. Cash. I usually brought Zaeed with me, because his dialogue is pretty funny.

The only down side of Adrenaline Rush spam is everyone talks in slow motion. It's pretty annoying really.

Just one note, as a 3rd insanity playthrough engineer I can tell you that as an engineer, having the drone a so short cooldown you end up casting as many incinerates-overload-cryos-bonus power(depends on build) as drones. Maybe that's why I'm in love with this hated class, It's the only one where you use every button frecuently without spamming anything (again, depends on build, playstyle, map etc)

The only class I'm founding so engaging is the vanguard thanks to the incredible charge, bit I still find it a less open class. Now I'll have to try the adept seriously

And still I don't  understand this constant bashing against:
a)Squad Usage on insanity: there are certain maps like the first Harbinger encounter on Horizon where it's very difficult to keep them alive ok, but usually they add a lot!

b)Powers Vs Weapons/Ammo Powers: I fail to understand the "biotics are lame, I have to use my weapons!" logic. I find perfectly coherent that a member of a military force uses weapons in addition to non weapon powers; I never expected to play this game like an MMO Mage class. I've beaten the game as an engineer, the other "magician" class without warp (obviously)-reave and even warp ammo!! The engineer doesnt have any natural tool to strip barriers and with barriers you cannot cryo-pain_incinerate, and I haven't spammed drones ever! But I use weapons, of course!

...Funny forums

Conclusion, thanks for the video, gr00grams, and keep up the good work!

imemoria is one of the best trolls I've seen on these forums. Outright evidence of the strengths of an adept and its high difficulty effectiveness and he still sticks to his guns. Amazing.

g00grams, don't forget where you are. This is the internet! You'll not convince everyone. I'm surprised that they havent accused you of sh00ping the video yet. You know, because of the pixels!;)

I think the 98% of us without anything lodged in our cloaca are seriously impressed by your run!

My FemShepAdept from ME1 was my first character I imported and played through - my main character I guess. Anywhooo, I was a little thrown by the changes in the class at first, but never thought it was weak or underpowered... Just differently powered.

Thanks for the vid(s) though! Really impressed, seriously.

Exactly my build except I have warp ammo instead of barrier and sniper instead of assault.

How do you use a sniper or assault rifle as an adept? I would really like to know this.  If an adept could use either of those weapons that is my next choice in classes for sure....

I'm confused. Are you saying this thread should've been posted in that thread?

I made this video of an all biotic group on the suicide mission.
I did this because so many seem confused that biotics are somehow weak, or... something.

So the fact that the majority of powers used in the video were Reave/Warp isn't irrefutable evidence? I think the video is more evident of that particular fact than "Biotics are fine". But whatever helps you sleep at night.

And when Average Gatsby uses singularity all the time in his vids some people say he spams singularity too much. The argument still doesn't make any sense. EVERY class in this game becomes a spam bot on immunity except for maybe engineers. And guess what most of their powers are good for, stripping defenses, so I guess they are broken as well.
