Is it just me or is it very difficult to get an Elven Male to not look like a fairy?
Also the human female body is a bit butch.

Hmm, here are some of my Elf Males:

I think Varen is the only effiminate one, and he's not too bad.  I don't like effiminate men so I try to avoid that.

Eh. One of the presets for elven males looks masculine enough. I think they tend toward "prettier" but a big part of that is the complete lack of facial hair.  As for the human female body, can't help you.  I thought she looked fine but whatever.

one of them is meant to be a bit effeminate (he is not gay, at the moment, just the personality), but I think I made a good job with this one:

Well, they are Elves. Elf males are usually depicted as androgynous. As for the ladies, I think that A: they are constructed onto the male frame and B: Probably close to most real ladies. What they miss is the "Action figure conundrum." That is, to look right when made small, human proportions need to be exaggerated. That's why Barbie has such wrong proportions if you measure them, but she only looks slightly bosomy at a glance.

Personally I'd like at least the female warriors and rogues to be more athletic and slender. Like Lena Headey in the Sarah Connor Chronicles for the rogues and like Lucy Lawless for the warriors.

Hi Servant of Nature

I'd say your bottom one looks the most manly. The top one looks suspect even with the tattoo. ;)

Thanks for sharing.

CJohnJones, I hear you. Rogues need to be slender...for all the cat burglary and such. ;)

Yep elves are supposed to be androgynous, and in DA:O that osseously doesn't work - I haven't seen elves more wrinkled ans world vary in any game for a looong time. Not to mention they all are fare to sharp faced and pixsy like looking... Honestly with all that Bioware done with them it seams that some serious elf hate is somewhere out there... I feel like someone kicked my favorite puppy :(

As for females - male skeleton and animations, that's all there is to say... Oh, except that it's my second "favorite puppy" that got kicked :D

I've always read elves are beautiful and are hard to tell apart.  But what I'd like to know is why the men have the long braid.   That was a bit disappointing, and one reason I got the pc version, I know someone will come up with better hair cuts.   :)

I like the fact that the female models actually look like they could handle themselves in a fight.

actually had a lot of problems getting my elven male mage to look feminine. I don't know why everyone else seems to have the opposite issue.

This has nothing to do with being able to handle her self ina fight, and all to do with proportions - even the most musculed female will have narow sholders in comparison to man, it's not muscle, it's the skeleton shape, ant it doesn't make them look stronger, just dsproportional.

If by "butch" you mean not like a starving waif with watermelons glued to her chest, then yeah, and it's a good thing too. :P

I'd like for the warriors to be more buff, actually. A "body type" slider from thin to normal to well-muscled would really be good to see in a game.

I think the manly women thing is more a result of them using the male skeleton to make the women.  It's like how the mage hands are humongous because they are merely gloves/gauntlets that are fleshcolored.

I honestly find it far easier to make human males effeminate. Like I did here. It's a challenge to make a soft elven faces due to how gaunt their faces are by default.

It could be the armour, but the builds of all the characters feel more reminiscent of Obsidian's efforts in NWN2 than any of the previous BW games. Somehow a little oddly blocky.

Hard to judge on just the CC though. Need to see them in an environment and animated.

My human female mage is slightly masculine looking but I think she's still pretty... She looks a little more feminine with longer hair but unfortunately none of the human female hair really looks natural for her.. http://social.biowar...&game=dragonage

I'd suggest that getting a human female to look anything close to butch is very difficult. Someone is hanging out at the wrong bars.

I think the criticism is mostly with the bodies, but aside from their good height and somewhat conservatively-sized breasts, I think the women look quite feminine. The male elves being too feminine might be a valid concern, but that's how I tend to think of them, so I don't know.

I don't know... does my male elven mage look feminine? I never thought of him as feminine...  does the "bald look" make a difference?

It doesn't help that the male elves can't grow facial hair, apparently. If they want to be treated like people past the age of puberty, then their race can learn to grow facial hair right after their voices crack and they really start developing past childhood - a time where androgyny is more prevalent overall :D
