""We ultimately realized that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake
was on the Xbox 360 platform, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360
exclusive…This decision was about matching this specific game to the
right platform."

Do you think this in anyway what so ever is true?
Sounds like PR bullplop.

Well Remedy did state that PC version is unlikely some time ago. It's a shame though...

Also I would so like to see Heavy Rain either on Xbox360 or PC....

WTF. Not happy at all. Lazy developers not wanting to make a good PC port. Well I'd rather have nothing than a buggy unoptimised port tbh. Its not like us PC gamers are lacking in games and AW doesn't seem to be groundbreaking.

It's PR bs. They just don't want to spend the resources to port it and adapt it to the PC.

Notice how EPIC used the same crappy excuse for why they didn't port GoW2 to the PC.

Pretty unfortunate. Remedy's past PC work was great.

Yep, if anyones to blame its microsoft. Their xbox360 "exclusive" lineup looks weak so what do they do? STEAL A GAME FROM THEIR OWN DAMNED PLATFORM!

Feel sad for remedy, they really wanted to make a proper pc version....but yknow, money talks and microsoft has the money.

MS does games for windows live so how is taking it from PC/Windows a good reason for them to do something like that, or how are they jerks, you do realize how much money they put towards charity ever year right? Hardly makes them as a whole jerks, much less Bill Gates, yeah he's got a ton of money but he also took a massive amount of money and put it into poverty stricken areas in Africa to spread medical aid and so forth, and he actually went there and administered vaccines, and spent alot of time with the kids there. So yeah jerks huh.

Most.  Compelling.  Experience.

Limit it to older, outdated technology.  Don't allow gamers to scale the game to their hardware.

No.

The most compelling reason to limit it to the 360 (outside of Microsoft giving them incentives to make it exclusive) is that they don't have to worry about patches and tweaks to make the game work on the numerous hardware combinations that make up the PC gaming customer base.

Sure. The developers don't have to spend X million dollars to develop for an ever-changing platform that has no true standard and instead get to develop for one absolute standard on another platform. (That still cost millions of dollars, but, hey. They know exaclty what their working with compared to some generalized foggy concept of "Maybe this chip-set will be the most popular and afforadable in X amount of months/years!")

Remedy are a small team...45 people iirc.

hell, they even said themselves theyre bummed no pc version is coming out. They HOPE they can make a proper pc version but MS xbox division wants its exclusives.

I would say it's a combination of perceived piracy, and the idea that they can push sales onto the xbox version, you know, the platform where they make money off software hardware addons, subecription service, content delivery, and everything else under the sun.

PC gaming is dying the sooner we can bury it the better. It cost an arm and a leg to buy a machine that will even play it, and it's more cost effective for developers to tailor their game to one console. Microsoft may have insisted they make it exclusive but I hardly doubt they needed any convincing to do so.

No, it isn't. It really, really isn't.

CodeMyster wrote...

No, it doesn't. That's one of the biggest misconceptions about PC gaming around!

Perhaps, but the same goes for the PC. It's more "cost effective" for a developer to stick to one platform as it reduces the amount of QA that has to be done.

Microsoft are a group of hypocrites. They go on about all these features for PC gaming (GfWL, things built into the OS, DirectX 10/11 etc) and then they barely give us any games they have influence on. We're getting Fable 3, but we've not had Fable 2. We've got Halo 1 and 2, but we've not gotten 3, ODST, Wars or (the upcoming) Reach. Alan Wake was dropped mere months before release, and that's a colossal waste of time for everyone involved. The developers have wasted time developing the PC version, PC gamers have wasted time researching it etc.

Next time you want to start a PC gaming is dying debate, post a new topic rather than bumping a five month old thread. Thank you.
