I have encountered two critical bugs in the main campaign of DA:O These bugs will make the DA:O unplayable.

At first I played the main campaign through with the game version 1.01, without any DLC using Windows XP SP3 and there was no problems at all. But now after upgrading to Win 7 and patching to 1.02a the game is no-go. I have also the toolset 1.01 installed and some DLC.

Bug 1:

A few seconds after the last enemy is killed in a battle the frame rate will start decreasing rapidly. Every time when the graphics is updated it will take twice as long to make the next update. The frame rate drops like 60, 30, 15 .... 1, 0.5, 0.25...Bang. The only way to get out of this is to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and shutdown the DA:O from the task manager. Both cores are running at 100% and everything is stuck. This does usually occur in 1 battle out of 10 battles.

Bug 2:

It would seem that the Hero "dies" evenif it do have some health left. The portrait in the left-top corner is "alive", there is some health left and healing spells can be applied into the Hero. But the Hero lies on a groung like being dead. After everybody is dead the "game over" screen will never appear. This bug usually appears only if a healing spell is applied into the Hero in some point of a battle. This bug probably appears in 1 battle out of 5 battles. Here is a screen shot:  users.kymp.net/p501474a/DeadBug.jpg

Is this a Windows 7 compatibility issue ?
Is this caused by patch 1.02a ?
Is this caused by Official DLC ?
Is this caused by the toolset ?  If so, then what need to be done to fix this ?

Is this a Windows 7 compatibility issue ?

It runs on Windows 7 just fine for me.

Is this caused by patch 1.02a ?

The patch is buggy, and there are “slow-down” issues reported with loading times and dialog however nothing as bad at what your reporting.

Is this caused by Official DLC ?

I never had issue with Official DLC

Is this caused by the toolset ? If so, then what need to be done to fix this ?

The toolset –can- destroy your game if you’re not careful. I actually have it installed on another PC just to avoid any cross-interaction.

There is a scan and repair in the options menu you can try.
