Yep, it is so, so racist. My Commander should be named Wong Akimba Abdul O'Hoolihan. That would make way more sense.

Who’s that tripp-trapping over my bridge?

I vote we change Shepard's name to something more inclusive. How about Cholmondley-Warner?

Shepard's name is symbolic imo. Besides that, who really cares?

True story, you guys even ran Britain for a while (even though we like to claim we've been free and clean since 1066). I'm glad you don't anymore... no offense meant, but I tried learning dutch once and it mushed my brain... I is not good with languages.

I don't know who thought you history, but I'd fire that guy. Yes, we did well in that age, mostly through trade. We had some colonies, a powerful fleet and did impressive things for a country with such a small size, but that's about it. Owning the world is taking it a bit far.:P

Anyway, never mind, going off-topic.

Yeah and why is the game in English? It's the 22nd century, why is English still the dominant language? And why is it only on PC's and Xbox 360's? Isn't that prejudiced against people who don't have electricity? And why is this game based on auditory and visual stimuli? Doesn't that discriminate against the blind and deaf? And why do you have to have higher cognitive functions to enjoy the game? Do the developers hate people who are in comas?

Bwa ha ha haaaaaa!

Well said!  ;)

I've been thinking about it, and by the 22nd century, the human race isn't going to be a mix of all ethnicities. So, following that logic, we aren't going to have many ethnicities with an American name. So what if I want to play someone from the Ukraine, Mexico, or China?
Should we be forced to play a character that is clearly American? What if I want to play Commander Jovovich, Commander Sanchez, or Commander Chang?

Thoughts?

Wow just wow and we wonder why our country of America is going down the tubes, man it is a video game chill out and just take this kind of drivel else where. You know we dont have to include every nationality in everything we do. Its a video game please keep the politics out of unless we are playing a political thriller then add them please.

I'm American, and I'm half-Chinese, part Irish-Welsh, and part hispanic (my grandmother was from Guatemala). My surname is decidedly Irish-Welsh. Having a last name like Shepard isn't racist, nor is it indicative of anything in particular. Now, can you stop trolling like a complete moron? Idiotic threads like this are a waste of valuable forum space. :P

This is obviously a troll thread, but if you look carefully at Corporal (?) Chung, he's not particularly asian-looking. So yeah, names don't denote ethnicities in post-racial-mixing ME-world. No reason Shep can't be black or asian.

that's why he said ethnicity and not race, though technically American's aren't that either.

Theres no (technical) about it American isnt ethnicity nor race, lol this is the one country in the world where those 2 words have no meaning.

"American" is a nationality. "Caucasian" is an ethnicity. "Human" is a race.

Actually Human is a Species, and Caucasian is a Race

"Ethnicity" is sometimes used as a euphemism for "race", or as a synonym for minority group.
While ethnicity and race are related concepts, the concept of ethnicity is rooted in the idea of societal groups, marked especially by shared nationality, tribal afilliation, religious faith, shared language, or cultural and traditional origins and backgrounds, whereas race is rooted in the idea of biological classification of ****** sapiens to subspecies according to morphological features such as skin color or facial characteristics.

That's unnecessary and pointless. Almost as pointless as bringing Liara back for Mass Effect 3. She served only three purposes in Mass Effect: decrypting visions, her knowledge of the protheans, and ******-tang.
