I'll admit, I screwed up. Between my "Global EA Account" and my "Social Bioware Account" are spread between 2 email accounts that I have. One would think "Well, only post on the Dragon Age forums with the account you registered your games to & that'll take care of things." Problem is, is that I can't.
Let me explain.
Shortly after DA:O came out, I came to these forums to ask some questions & for whatever reason, decided to register my DA:O to the very same email account that my NWN was put on. While this would make sense (as to keep it all together to keep things simple), it was to an email account I rarely use anymore, instead of my primary one. As I was still playing World of Warcraft all the time, my time to play extra games (such as DA:O) was extremely limited. So, I ultimately let the game languish in a rather huge pile of unfinished games I've racked up over the years.
Fast forward several months.
As I recently ran into some money problems (due to the timing of being unemployed for awhile & the start up time of being re-employed & waiting on a new paycheck), my ability to play WoW was cut off & I figured that it'd be a great time to start working on the pile of games I've got that deserve to be played. First on my list was DA:O. Played through the game & really enjoyed it. But in playing it, I had some questions about the storyline & ending(s), so I again came here. But this time, I'd forgotten which email account I'd used to registed on the forums & my games. So I figured :
"Meh, big deal. I'll just make a new one & ask my question."
I find the appropriate spoiler friendly sub-forum to go to, but I find out that I'm unable to post any new topics or reply to anything in it. Thinking that perhaps it was because this was a newly made account & my forum priveledges hadn't being upgraded yet, I manually started searching for my answers. But after burying myself 10+ pages deep & still not finding what I was needing answered, I post my a question in the main DA:O forum about why i can't post elsewhere. A quick response is offered:
"You need to register a game first."
Ah, I see, I think to myself. I'll just do what I should've done in the beginning: Attempt to do a possible password recovery/reset of the only 2 other possible email accounts I have in my possession. (I have 3 accounts, each with different puproses, but rarely use 2 of the 3). The 1st email account I do this for brings up a winner and I reset it's password; konk myself on the head for not remembering this one and tell myself not to forget again. So I log into my "Global EA Account" and see my Dragon Age game being registered there & the ability to click on that icon. In horvering the mouse over that icon, I see it wants to re-direct me to the http://social.bioware.com area, and I gladly click away. It pops up a window for me to log in my name & password & figured "Well, okay...." put in the same information again. Instead of finding myself on the forums page, I find myself facing the very same registration screen that I did when I signed up originally with the very same account I'm posting on.
So.....
So, figured that perhaps...just perhaps...EA changed how it did things (in regards to the Social Bioware area of things) and I had to re-sign up for the forums, I attempt to affix a forum name, forum avatar & don't bother to choose to select any of the "Receive Email updates from Bioware or EA". I check availability of the forum name I want: It says it's good to choose that and I click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page.
Nice little red "?" pops up between the name I was wanting to choose & the "Check Availability" button. Also I get a new red letered box above it saying that name's not available. Grumbling a bit to myself, I resign myself to choosing another forum name. Then another. Then another. Then another. Each time, the same result is the same: Not making it past that screen.
Now, I'm frustrated to no end. According to EA, this game is registered to me. I'm unable to do much of anything on the forums because of a single mistake on my part that split up my identity in 2 areas. I'd like some help rectifying this situation, a possible merger would be great into a single, primary email address (the primary one I use would be great).
To summerize:
When I log into DA:O, I can see the game has THIS current email address as the one it wants to use. This is the primary email address that I use & what I should've used in the beginning. I can check all my online achievements, characters & screenshots with this very same email address on the the very same website (http://social.bioware.com) that won't let me post in any other forum other than the general forums. But, the "Global EA Account" has my email address that the game is registered to (and the http://social.bioware.com forums) wants to use that account as to what I should be posting to here (thus having the ability to post wherever I want, because that's the account things are registered to).
What can we do to fix this?
Major Malfunction. Please help!

Do you use that EA account for anything else? Have you redeemed any promo codes?

I've done a bit of digging and things are so splintered into a massive chaos-like beast of nightmarish proportions that it would leave most folks left scratching their heads going "How the heck did you get it this way again?"
An example:
I'm unable to post in certain areas on this very forum due to me not having a "Registered" game under this account. But, with this very same account (re: via my email address that I not only see in game on the main screen), I get EMAIL RECEIPTS for the DLC I've purchased (just got RtO & still have about 400 points left).
To be honest, all that I wish could be done would be to let my current serial code (or whatever is generated when I got the game via Steam) to be applied to this email address. After that, I'd never touch the other email addresses ever again and have learnt my lesson.

Actually, that was the direction I was hoping to lead you in. Is anything preventing you from registering the key to this account? I have been unable to get confirmation that keys can only be registered to one account at a time.DiatribeEQ wrote...

I tried registering both "keys" that Steam gave me (not sure which is which), but both times, it gave me a "Nope. Not valid" responses. For example:
It says to enter a serial code of: 1111-2222-3333-4444-5555 (or whatever matches those variables, but without the -'s)
Yet, the 1st is only able to hit the 4444's before I run out of characters to enter.
The second also will not work. I'm not sure if the serial code (a mixture of letters & numbers) is case sensitive and need to be entered as it appears on my Shift-Tab Steam Overlay when I'm at the main menu when I first load up DA:O.

Could either (or both?) or those be promo codes?DiatribeEQ wrote...

It looks like case sensitive, no dashes, generally works best. Unless it tells you the key is already registered, try again a few times, and if that still doesn't work, wait a day and try again. It can be very uncooperative at times.DiatribeEQ wrote...

Okay...this is odd as hell....
Apparently there's 2 "Registrations" for DA:O. There's what reads on the Global EA area of things, then there's one for here. Evidently I did end up confusing a 5 for an S or vice versa and once I sat there treating myself like a half blind mole rat (picture myself with my nose 3" from a 22" computer screen to make sure I was reading things correctly, I did manage to get the actual registration done here.
At least I hope.
I'll attempt to post something over in another forum and if successful, you'll most likely never see my name here in this area of the forum again. heh.
