I just wanted to know how the +% to Paragon/Renegade Scores works for each class' unique skill. Does it add the percentage of your current scores to them, so that at rank 4 you are effectively doubling that score? Or does it affect any future gains to Paragon/Renegade, so that if you were to gain 4 Paragon from a dialog option you would gain 8 instead? Just need a bit of clarity there, thanks.

I always dump squad points into the passive specialization skill first and get to + 100% Persuasion for Paragon/Renegade. That way I'll be able to pass every persuade check in the game. Luckily I had a ME1 import ready to go and thus could start at Level 5 and max out the passive skill right away.

It affects future gains of points, not your current score. So better earlier on.

Have you ever tried re-speccing?  You'll notice your Paragon/Renegade sliders go way low and then climb up as you sink more points into your class skill.  The Death Mask directly affects your sliders in the same way.

So you're quite incorrect.

It affects both actually.  It instantly affects your paragon and renegade scores which opens up new dialogue.  As a result it increases the number of opportunities you have to gain paragon and renegade points and thus allows you to gain more total points and experiment a bit more with using  renegade options as a paragon or paragon options as a renegade.

So it is better to max it first and take the option which gives you the bigger negotiation bonus.  Then if you want to change your skills later in the game you can just use the research lab to retrain your powers any time after you've completed Horizon.

Affecting future opportunities is not the same as affecting rate of change. Giving a car a more powerful engine is not the same as causing it to drive over the speed limit.
