Haven't checked that. The ones available to research before the Suicide Mission were still available after, though. I'll compare two saves next time. (Weird how most seem to react like we're still fighting the collectors and like we're not on the run from Ceberus [if I destroyed the base]. They mention the events once and have amnesia.)Ecael wrote...

(1) If you select an inappropriate Fire Team leader, the one in the vents dies.
(2) If you select an inappropriate tech specialist....who dies?
(3) If you select an inappropriate second Fire Team leader, (s)he dies. Correct?
(4) If you select an unloyal crew protector, (s)he dies. Otherwise, anyone works?
(5) If you select an inappropriate biotic, one of your current squad dies as you exit the swarm area.
Here's how I'm currently planning to do it:
People I want to die:
Garrus (vents)
Grunt (nonloyal, second Fire Team)
People who may or may not die:
Tali
Legion
Samara
Jack (nonloyal)
Mordin
Thane
So, if I understand things correctly, I could kill Jack by sending her back with the crew, one of the others by being carried away by the swarm if I select an inappropriate biotic, and one or more of the rest may die when holding the line. Correct? And if I want Mordin to survive I must send him back with the crew instead of Jack, because otherwise he'll die first when holding the line.
Peope I want to survive:
Miranda (final boss squad)
Jacob (final boss squad)
Anything else I should know? This is my "personal canon maleShep playthrough", and I don't want it to be a perfect one.
Edit:
Ah, I remember that undercover reporter now. Not missed anything, fortunately.

I'm trying to kill certain people in my current playthrough, but I'm unsure of the mechanics. So far I have:

(2) If you select an inappropriate tech specialist....who dies?
(3) If you select an inappropriate second Fire Team leader, (s)he dies. Correct?
(4) If you select an unloyal crew protector, (s)he dies. Otherwise, anyone works?
(5) If you select an inappropriate biotic, one of your current squad dies as you exit the swarm area.
(2) Vents person still dies.
(3) Second Fire Team leader dies *except* for Miranda. She will always survive that.
(4) Correct. However, the game doesn't let you send Miranda back with the crew.
(5) Inappropriate biotic or a non-loyal Jack/Samara. The decision of who dies seems to be the reverse of the Hold the Line death list, excluding Miranda, who cannot be taken away by the seeker swarms to die.
It's very easy to kill Jack, Thane and Legion by not upgrading the Normandy (and bringing Kasumi and Tali to the Oculus).People who may or may not die:
Tali
Legion
Samara
Jack (nonloyal)
Mordin
Thane

Non-loyals will definitely die first, it seems. Also, the number of survivors from the escort role and the two final boss squadmates (0, 1, 2, 3) can affect how many survive the hold the line segment.Zulu_DFA wrote...
Some 2 cents imput on "Hold the Line" toll:

Jacob + Samara + Miranda + Mordin (all loyal, but Samara) = Samara dies

Garrus + Samara + Miranda (all unloyal) = Miranda dies
Expanding upon the list from GameInformer, the hold the line ranking should then be this:
Hold the Line Strength List (Strongest to Weakest):
1. Grunt (loyal)
2. Zaeed (loyal)
3. Thane (loyal)
4. Legion (loyal)
5. Samara/Morinth (loyal)
6. Garrus (loyal)
7. Jacob (loyal)
8. Miranda (loyal)

20. Miranda (non-loyal)
21. Jack (non-loyal)
22. Kasumi (non-loyal)
23. Tali (non-loyal)
24. Mordin (non-loyal)
I'm not sure if that's entirely correct, though - I've never seen Grunt die holding the line.
Conclusion: Grunt is awesome.

how can you make either of them Loyal after this ****? I sided with Miranda because jack started the fight... and lost Jack's loyalty and can't get it back even trying to talk with her later... thus having Jack die in the end of the game thus not getting my No Man Left Behind achievement... everyone else is loyal except for Jack or Miranda (either one whom you told to back down)...Ecael wrote...

General Suicide Mission Guide here (Author - Occams Razor 17):

Trying to make Shepard the loneliest and most despised Commander in the galaxy to import for ME3, I killed 11 of 13 possible squadmates, with all dying after the Omega-4 relay (except Samara). Now the only remaining people on the Normandy SR-2 are a crippled pilot, an Asian thief, and an Asari succubus.
I had Kasumi and Morinth survive specifically because they are the least likely to show up for Mass Effect 3. Kasumi costs $7 to recruit (technically speaking) and Morinth is... well, Morinth.
All 12 loyalty missions completed. Normal recruitment mission order.
-----------------
Final Squadmates: Kasumi and Morinth
-----------------
Loyals: Jack, Jacob, Grunt, Garrus, Mordin, Legion, Thane, Kasumi, Morinth
Non-loyals: Miranda, Tali, Zaeed (avoid until later)
Normandy Upgrades: None
Chakwas & Crew: DEAD
Before the Omega-4 Relay
----Leave these quests for after the final mission:
----Zaeed Recruitment (*avoid him like the plague*)
----Zaeed Loyalty
-Side with Jack during the Miranda/Jack fight
-Hand over the evidence and traumatize Tali for her loyalty mission
-Bring Kasumi and Tali to fight the Oculus (so Legion dies)
-After the final mission, recruit Zaeed and kill him during his loyalty mission
Assignments
Vents - Jacob (dies)
Fire Team Leader - Any
Biotic - Miranda (bring Garrus and Tali, make sure Garrus dies)
Second Fire Team Leader - Grunt (dies)
Final boss squadmates - Miranda and Tali (both die)
Distraction Team - Morinth, Kasumi, Mordin (Mordin dies)
Deaths, before landing
Samara - Betrayed for Morinth, decapitated
Jack - No Armor Upgrade, laser'd
Legion - No Shield Upgrade, incinerated
Thane - No Weapon upgrade, impaled
Deaths, after landing
Jacob - Died by rocket to face
Garrus - Died by seeker swarm
Grunt - Died while closing second door
Mordin - Died holding the line, preferred to get job done and go home
Tali - Died at final boss
Miranda - Died at final boss
Zaeed - Died in a fire

Making the stupid or Renegade choices in Mass Effect 2
-Killed as many NPCs as possible (Kal'Reegar, Sick Krogan, Jorim Talid, Sidonis, Maelon, Ronald Taylor, Forvan, etc.)
-Sent Veetor to Cerberus
-Destroyed the genophage cure (could have left Maelon to complete it, that would have been worse)
-Destroyed the heretic geth (could have killed Legion and left the heretics to infect everyone)
-Cerberus has the Collector base, as well as data from N7: Lost Operative
-Started a romance with Liara in ME1, gave her the wrong Observer target
-Started a romance with Jack in ME2, had her die by laser beam
-Refused to reinstate Spectre status
-Shot Conrad Verner in the foot, had Asari Merchant arrested (using Paragon option)
-Then guilt tripped Conrad Verner by blaming him for it (using Intimidate option)
-Traumatized Tali and caused chaos in the Migrant Fleet by using the evidence, with her father declared a traitor
-Also suggested that they go to war anyway
-Destroyed Kasumi's greybox
-Told Captain Bailey to put Kolyat in jail
-Intentionally gave the undercover reporter, Moirall, the wrong password
-Told Patriarch in Omega to die like a real Krogan, and he does
-Punched Khalisah bint Sinan Al-Jilani... again
Mass Effect 1 choices
-All killable NPCs dead (Helena Blake, Fist, Shiala, Major Kyle, Gianna, Captain Kirrahe, etc.)
-Feros colony and Noveria Peak 15 wiped out entirely
-Rachni dead
-Wrex dead
-Original Council dead, Udina for Councilor
-Started a romance with Ashley and left her to die on Virmire
-Denied Tali data for pilgrimage
-Killed Dr. Saleon without Garrus' help
-Refused to help Emily Wong
-Sacrificed workers on Asteroid X57 to kill Balak
-Punched Khalisah bint Sinan Al-Jilani
