Ahh ic... well I probably won't get it. I'm a console user; plus I'm happy with what I have right now as far as equipment dlc goes (Blood Dragon Armor, Terminus stuff, Umbra Visor, Recon Hood, that electric heavy weapon). Only dlc I'm gonna get from now on is extra mission/story content.

Everyone's speculating that they're going to release the Incisor Rifle DLC for the console eventually (since it's technically only a PC weapon right now), but they'll probably nerf it before they do that.

ehh, whatever. If its cheap/free I'll think about it. I'm just tired of new dlc coming out AFTER I finish playing M.E. games for a period of time. Half of the reason I planned on 2 more Shepards after my initial 4 is because it'll take full advantage of the dlc I recently (and longer ago than that) downloaded.

Non-loyals: Miranda, Samara
Normandy Upgrades: None
Chakwas & Crew: ALIVE

Before the Omega-4 Relay
-Side with Jack during the Miranda/Jack fight
-Resolve the Tali/Legion fight for both loyalties
-Scare Morinth away when you meet her to mess up Samara's loyalty
-Mess up Zaeed's loyalty by saving the factory workers but not using Paragon to gain his loyalty
-Bring Tali and Legion to fight the Oculus (so Kasumi dies)

Assignments
Vents - Jacob (dies)
Fire Team Leader - Any
Biotic - Samara (bring Miranda and Zaeed, Zaeed dies)
Second Fire Team Leader - Grunt (dies)
Escort - Mordin
Final boss squadmates - Tali and Samara (Samara dies)
Distraction Team - Garrus, Legion, Miranda (Miranda dieS)

Deaths, before landing
Jack - No Armor Upgrade, laser'd
Kasumi - No Shield Upgrade, incinerated
Thane - No Weapon upgrade, impaled

Deaths, after landing
Jacob - Died by rocket to face
Zaeed - Died by seeker swarm
Grunt - Died while closing second door
Miranda - Died holding the line

That should work. If Miranda doesn't die, switch her with Tali.

I don't think I need to bring them so Kasumi can die.

But thx a lot.

I'd recommend choosing Miranda instead of Tali for the final boss from the beginning; just to be sure she dies.

I thought if the two squadmates at the final boss were not loyal then Shepard would die, or am I just getting confused?

No. Your team at the final boss doesn't matter; the entire team is what matters. If there are at the very least two living squad mates present at the base, you make it out alive. Doesn't matter if those are part of your team during the final fightt against the Reaper or not.

I get that question a lot. I think it's right behind "Where the restroom?"

That's in the VIP Club of Omega during Samara's loyalty mission. There's a cameraman hanging around in Udina's outfit who is worried that his friend is going to get killed.

Quick question, if I leave Garrus, Grunt, Legion, Kasumi, and Mordin to hold the line while all of them are loyal, will anyone die? If so, what would happen if I swapped Mordin with a loyal Tali?

With that team I would expect they will all survive, if you swap Tali for Mordin the team is even stronger so I would expect them to survive as well.

Yeah, didn't Ecael say that Grunt was great at a defensive Hold the Line posture, so that would really help.

I'm confirming that works.
I did everyone's loyalty mission but I only screew up Samara's and I took Jack's side.
Oh and I may replay it and record it once I find decend recording program that doesn't requared to be payed.
I just loved Legion's reaction when I chose him for 1st Fire Team Leader.

Grunt is the best hold the line candidate. He can hold the line by himself non-loyal.

They should have given him thicker plot armor than Miranda. I can't even see how he can actually die without being taken away and torn apart by seeker swarms. He'd probably regenerate from everything else.

Not sure if this helps since Ecael seems to have suicide mission scenarios down to an exact science, but I spent the evening trying to prove that Garrus's defense score is higher than Samara's, Legion's, and Thane's even though he's lower on the pecking order when it comes to dying while holding the line. Scenario one with Grunt/Samara/Garrus led to Garrus dying. Scenario two with Grunt/Zaeed/Garrus led to everyone living. Scenario three led with Grunt/Samara/Zaeed led to Samara dying.

Ridiculous amount of detail on the process posted here. Makes me wonder just how many hours Ecael spent testing all this stuff.

I know how to get almost everyone killed, but the whole hold the line death sequence still gets me confused from time to time.

Pacifien wrote...

For SCIENCE!
Okay, so if you've seen the June 2010 Game Informer article, you've seen the order in which the squadmates die while they hold the line for you at the end of the suicide mission. Garrus < Samara < Legion < Thane < Zaeed < Grunt. But wait, hasn't everyone always mentioned that your three heavy hitters for holding the line were Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed? So why is Garrus dying before Samara, Legion, and Thane?

So I theorized there were two different lists.
1) the order in which squadmates die
2) the order of their defense scores

And based on this theory, I figured Garrus might die before Samara, Legion and Thane, but his defense score was still higher. But I had to test it. Which is not easy, but I do it for science. And some obsessive completism thing.

I ran three scenarios starting around the time where I need someone to hold a biotic shield, but four elements were the same for each scenario.
1) Thane was already dead because I hadn't upgraded the Normandy's weapons. Incidentally, Normandy's original weapons are laaaaaaame. Thanix Cannon for the win.
2) Jacob had died in the vents.
3) Jack, Kasumi, Mordin, and Tali were loyal. Garrus, Grunt, Legion, Miranda, Samara, and Zaeed were not.
4) No one ever gets sent back with the crew.

Scenario 1
1) Samara holds the biotic shield while Miranda and Zaeed are in my squad. Jack led the distraction team. Zaeed gets taken by the seeker swarms (Miranda is never taken unless you mod it) while Jack dies leading the distraction team.
2) I take Miranda and Legion with me to the final battle, leaving loyals Kasumi, Mordin, and Tali with unloyals Garrus, Grunt, and Samara. Unloyals always die before loyals.
Result: Garrus died holding the line, thus proving he does die before Samara.

Scenario 2
1) Miranda holds the biotic shield while Jack and Legion are in my squad. Samara leads the distraction team. I've gathered that, aside from when Miranda is on the squad, whoever is actually taken by the seeker swarms is a bit of a crapshoot. I figured either Jack was going to bite it or I'd have to take her with me to the final battle in place of Legion. Jack did get taken. Samara died leading the distraction team.
2) I take Miranda and Legion with me to the final battle, leaving loyals Kasumi, Mordin, and Tali with unloyals Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed.
Result: No one dies holding the line, showing the Garrus/Grunt/Zaeed combination makes for a stronger defense than Garrus/Grunt/Samara.

Scenario 3
1) Samara holds the biotic shield while Miranda and Garrus are in my squad. Jack leads the distraction team. Garrus gets taken by the seeker swarms and Jack dies leading the other team.
2) I take Miranda and Legion with me to the final battle, leaving loyals Kasumi, Mordin, and Tali with unloyals Grunt, Samara and Zaeed.
Result: Samara dies holding the line, showing that the Grunt/Samara/Zaeed combination makes for a weaker defense than Garrus/Grunt/Zaeed.

Conclusion: Garrus dies before Samara, but Garrus is a better defender than Samara. I suspect he's a better defender than Thane, but I'd have to go a bit further back in my save games so I can get the weapon upgrade to allow Thane to participate in my experiment here. I think I've had enough suicide runs for the day, though.

Great work!

I would suggest using the save game editor and repeatedly editing the auto-save right before you fight the final boss - it will save a LOT of time in testing this out.

If there are different defensive and death scores to hold the line for more than just Garrus/Samara, then I can only say one thing:
