Something's not entirely right with the Hold the Line numbers. I had five people holding the line and I was shooting for killing two. I had:
Loyal Garrus: 4
Loyal Miranda: 2
Loyal Tali: 1
Unloyal Jack: 0
Unloyal Mordin: 0
That gives an average of 7 in a team of 5. 7 / 5 = 1.4.
0.5 < Average < 1.5 in a team of 5 should kill two people. The unloyal ones, yet only mordin died.
This really sucks because I already moved on and I can't redo the SM to get rid of jack. A whole playthtough wasted..
Dude, if you want any unloyal squad mate to die send them back with the crew. Guaranteed death.
If you don't want loyal squadie to die doe the same. They'll always always live if their loyal on the crew escort.

Or does the conflict between Tali and Legion only occur if you successfully gain Tali's loyalty?

All 12 loyalty missions completed. Normal recruitment mission order.
-----------------
Final Squadmates: Tali and Garrus (and Dr. Chakwas, for ME1 characters)
-----------------
Loyals: Jack, Jacob, Grunt, Garrus, Mordin, Tali, Thane, Kasumi
Non-loyals: Miranda, Legion, Samara, Zaeed
Can somebody help me? I don't understand this and I would like to have one playthrough in which only ME1 characters survive. So, it says "all 12 loyalty missions completed" and under it it says "loyals: ... (8 of them)". So, to keep only Garrus, Tali and dr. Chakwas alive, do I have to do all the loyalty mission or just the 8 of these? Please help.

I actually only made tali and garrus as only loyal though and only survivors. Not sure why you have so many loyals if you are going to kill them anyways.

I'm going to sell Legion to Cerberus and leave Grunt in the tank in accordance with Cerberus protocols as well, if that makes any difference.

If Jack is loyal, will lack of ship armor kill her still?
I'm trying to end the game with just Thane and Morinth.
I'll leave Zaeed unrecruited and then kill him on his loyalty mission. Everyone else I want to die on the SM. Thing is, i'm having problems making heads or tails of the charts and guides. Could anyone be kind enough to offer some one-on-one advice?
Pressumably, I need to upgrade the guns to keep Thane alive (?), or will an unloyal character replace him in that death? I'm also not sure which roles to put Morinth and Thane into to keep them alive, but to ensure everyone ELSE dies. How many loyalty mission do I need to trigger the Collector ship and Reaper IFF? And which ones can I safely do without survivors?
This really is the challenge that keeping everyone ALIVE should have been. And that should potentially have only saved two-thirds of the team no matter what. Being able to safe everyone but a few redshirt crew members is a cop out. =P

Whew, managed it, but wow, Miranda is hard to kill off - even unloyal. I had to leave her defending with Morinth, and given that she 'held the line' with Mordin TWICE (while he died) before it worked... well, i'm wondering if Morinth didn't get tired of her attitude and help her along.
Thane and Morinth onry survival.
So, Legion handed to Cerberus, everyone else dead. Romancing Thane, so my femShep's reunion with Kaiden is going to be awkwards to say the least.
FailShep is going to have FUN in ME3. =D

Damn you Alixen, now I have to try this. Starting with ME1 'bad choices/renegade' of course. And ME3 is less than a week away.

It doesn't actually take too long, to be honest. When you are TRYING to mess a lot of stuff up, it really shortens ME2, since you don't have to do the majority of the loyalty missions. However, I didn't do it i the same 'completionist' manner I did my main playthrough.
My ME1 playtime was around 8 hours, and ME2 was 10 hours. Missed a lot of sidequests from both. Partially because i've played both games to death, but mostly because I want my Shep to have the least advantages possible.
I went for a disasterous combo of choices. Ridding myself of potential Paragon allies (Rachnii, Krogan, Geth) and killing any NPCs that bugged me, while gettting rid of the Renegade advantages (save the alien council and destroyed the base). Hopefully it will play out nicely.

In ME1:
1. Killing Wrex
2. Killing Rachni Queen
3. Letting Thanopsis live
4. Human only council lead by Udina
In ME2:
1. Giving Cerberus the Reaper base
2. Giving Grunt and Legion to Cerberus
3. Getting Garrus, Mordin and Tali killed in the suicide mission
4. Destroying Maelon's data.
I really think that'll leave you pretty screwed in ME3

It's probably not worth it unless they change the ending to Mass Effect 3.Lekwid wrote...
I remember wanting to include this kind of run in one of my playthroughs but I wanted to wait until ME3 came out and the wiki developed to do it so I knew what decisions to make.

There is no substitute for Garrus. You simply lose a squad member for the whole game.Voltron_4500 wrote...
Ok guys question, What happens if garrus dies in ME2 and you import your ME2 to ME3. Who's going to substitute garrus?
