I ended up with just Thane and Miranda alive. Hwever, afterwrds, I realized there is an even worse playtrough. The key to this is that if you do Zaeed's loyalty mission after the suicide mission, you have the option to kill him on it (you can leave him to die under te rubble).   So if he is one of your only survivors, you can kill him off after the mission too.

Update: I managed to get only loyal Grunt and non-loyal Zaeed to survive the final mission (by not recruiting Thane). I took Zaeed to do his loyalty mission and the option to kill him disappeared.

Still haven't found a way to force the game to keep only one squadmate alive.

Yeah I guess that means the game forces you into having at least 2 at all times.

Makes sense because you need 2 team-mates to walk around with.

Interesting that Zaeed mission recognises you've only got him and another team-mate as your only party members left.

If you don't bother with Zaeed at all until after the suicide mission does the initial dialogue with him change at all? (seeing as you've done the mission he was allegedly paid to help with hehe)

Thats best thing I've ever heard. Your shep could have died but didn't.

My renegade did the same thing with miranda, grunt, thane, tali and jacob Loyal and to my suprise everyone lived; while in my paragon playthourgh near half the team died.

A nice morbid playthrough.

Assuming that everyone else died holding the door (or escorting crew, if applicable), as they *should* do...
The only person to survive the boss fight with you *should* be Thane...
Thane *should* take a bullet to the face while helping you onto the ship.

Is this true? Can you get a squad member to die at the very end-end? I know Joker takes a shot. Or at least a graze when trying to help Shepard up in the all dead ending, but I've never heard of someone dying there. Video plz?

It's not possible. The person helping you up does get grazed by a bullet, but they survive. Also, there's still at least one more squadmate that survives, you just don't see them in the remaining cutscenes.

No change. He still goes on and on about 'You need me, I need to do what I'm paid for!' right before you leave him to die.

Speaking of which, I think it's about time I get him to die again...

Well, maybe this is the right place to help me. I need help killing people! I've not played around with what actions kill who. I'm playing a renegade, but I did do everyone's loyalty missions, and all ship upgrades, so my only way to kill people is by placing them in the wrong jobs.

I know, for example, if you put someone other than Tali or Legion in the vents, they can die, but if you put someone that's not Miranda/Jacob/Garrus as the fire team, will they die as well?

Miranda and Mordin will probably be in my group the whole mission. And I want Jack to survive. Everyone else is fair game to be killed.

Any suggestions? XD

Deaths:
Jack - No Shield Upgrade, died by laser beam
Legion - No Armor Upgrade, incinerated
Garrus - Rocket to the face while closing first door
Grunt - Taken by seeker swarm
Tali - Shot while closing second door
Zaeed - Died escorting Dr. Chakwas
Jacob - Died at final boss
Miranda - Died at final boss
Mordin - Died holding the door
Samara - Slain by Morinth after final mission

If you sold legion off, would you get 1 squadmate left instead? Alternatively left grunt in the tank i guess

Got Zaeed or not?

Going to be a bit tough with a full loyal group, specially if you have everyone and have done the ship upgrades (could've lost 3 there).

Basically with everyone loyal and all ship upgrades, the most you could possibly lose is 3.
Your vent runner if anyone other than tali/legion
Someone with you if you pick someone other than Samara/jack as biotic
Someone other than Miranda/Jacob or Garrus as diversion team leader (when doing the biotic run)

Only your vent runner can die during that sequence. The Fire team leader will always survive, you just need garrus, miranda or jacob to ensure tali/legion don't die.

@Computron2000 can't remember if it was Ecael or someone else whom stated it, but basically if you get to the final section (final battle team and door defence team) with 1 loyal member, Shep will always live and miraculously a non-loyal member will always live.

Although going by what you said, am curious if this is really true.

Considering the fact you can go into the suicide mission with just 8 people, I can't see how can get Shep out alive with just one loyal person.

For the sake of argument, we'll class the loyal person as Miranda (coz she is pretty much bulletproof anyway)
Party of Miranda, Jacob, Garrus, Jack, Mordin, Thane, Samara, Tali
Legion sent to Cerberus, Grunt left in lifepod and Zaeed not recruited, no ship upgrades

Most likely to die on ship, Jack, Tali and Thane
Garrus sent into the vents - dead
Miranda used as biotic, Samara swarmed
Mordin sent as diversion leader - dead
Miranda and Jacob as final battle party with 0 door defence

Be interesting to see if a non loyal Jacob will get up from the rubble.

Actually, right now I'm working on a playthrough where I still end up with two squadmates while completing ALL loyalty missions.

Tips:
-You can still kill Tali and Legion in the vents if you have a bad first Fire Team Leader.
-The second Fire Team Leader will die if they are NOT loyal Jacob, loyal Garrus, or Miranda (non-loyal/loyal).
-One person in your current squad will die if you pick a bad biotic barrier (Thane, Jacob, Miranda, non-loyal Jack, non-loyal Samara/Morinth)
-Mordin has a good chance of dying holding the line if you leave bad defenders with him.
-Miranda is nearly invincible up until the final boss, even if she is non-loyal.

If you sold legion off, would you get 1 squadmate left instead?

Tali would be incinerated instead of Legion, and someone else would die in her place (probably Mordin). Both Thane and Samara will still survive holding the line.

Thanks.  See what I really want to do is kill off all, or as many of the aliens as I can, and keep all the humans. Miranda, Jacob, Jack, Zaheed, and Mordin (though he's an alien, I love him) would survive, and try to kill off the rest.  I suppose I don't mind keeping Legion either. He's not really an alien or a human, lol.

Is it true, during the biotic scene, that the person you pick -second- is the one that dies? (Say I have Miranda do the biotics, and I pick Jacob first, and Thane second, Thane would die?)

I think.. I shall put Tali in the vents, and maybe put Grunt in charge to get them both killed.
Try to get Thane or Garrus killed during the biotics scene.  Maybe send Jack back with the crew since I want her alive, and she'd have a good chance of dying at the Holding the line scene otherwise. I don't mind about the crew..they are all human and I kinda like them.  Hopefully that will get another squishy killed. Morinth maybe.

Kinda wished I didn't get them all loyal but I'm a completionist, and I wanted to do all the quests. XD

I've done it with Tali. She let me fall. (She forced Joker to pick me up and he failed. Tali apparently disappeared after that. She wasn't in the final cutscene.)

Just finished a playthrough with ALL 11 loyalty missions completed and only 2 squadmates (Thane and Morinth) and no crew remaining:

-----------------
Final Survivors: Shepard, Joker, Thane, Morinth (Entire crew DEAD)
-----------------

Loyals: Jack, Jacob, Grunt, Garrus, Mordin, Morinth, Legion
Non-loyals: Miranda, Tali, Zaeed

Normandy Upgrades: None

-Leave these quests for after the final mission:
   -Thane Recruitment
   -Thane Loyalty
   -Zaeed Loyalty
-Side with Jack during the Miranda/Jack fight
-Hand over the evidence and traumatize Tali for Tali's loyalty mission
-After the final mission, recruit Thane, kill off Zaeed in his loyalty mission, then do Thane's loyalty mission

Vents - Jacob (dies)
Fire Team Leader - Morinth
Biotic - Miranda (had Grunt and Tali, Grunt dies)
Second Fire Team Leader - Mordin (dies)
Final boss squadmates - Miranda and Tali (both die)
Distraction Team - Morinth and Zaeed

Deaths:
Samara - Slain by Morinth
Jack - No Shield Upgrade, died by laser beam
Legion - No Armor Upgrade, incinerated
Garrus - No Weapon Upgrade, impaled
Jacob - Rocket to the face
Grunt - Taken by seeker swarm
Mordin - Shot while closing second door
Tali - Died at final boss
Miranda - Died at final boss
Zaeed - Left him to die in the fire he started

Assuming Thane dies and Morinth gets killed/leaves because she continuously wants unsafe sex, the only remaining people on board the Normandy SR-2 for Mass Effect 3 will be Shepard and Joker.

You can still basically kill off whoever you want even doing all the loyalty missions, depending on who you side with and how you complete the mission. All depends on who you specifically want to survive.

Warning to those who kill off Mordin

Your research costs increase by 50% if you kill him. =(

OUCH! I did ponder actually whether killing Mordin off would bring some serious bad crap with it. Specially on one of my current runs where was just going to have Miranda, Jacob, Zaeed and possibly Kasumi alive at the end and THEN mess about with ship upgrades (in case we need them for ME3).

Oh well, hopefully the shield and cannon upgrades won't be needed for ME3. Other than that I'll make sure to get as many if not all the upgrades I need prior to suicide run. I will not let fear compromise who I am  *even though I am keeping the base on that run because shep is a cerberus lapdog in this playthrough haha*
